there were some early bluffing books released... some before boom, some early in the boom.... i bought but never read much.

alot of bluffing is probably common sense although i haven't thought about it that much.... i know listening to esfandiari doing color commentary on WSOP i don't always understand his analyzing lines of betting (i.e. why someone's bluff doesn't make sense (other than mega slow play)). but it seems like he is almost always right.

i would love to have a bluffing thread here...... sorry, i wasn't very helpful in answering your question.

No problem! I'l probably pass on this book for now as there are other books on bluffing that have good reviews.

Thanks.

that's the bluffing book i always meant to read and didn't.

bluffing is so important..... i think most people have a pretty good idea of card/hand value etc.

i'll try to find the other bluffing book i meant to read.

Yep, in the first book you mention Mike Caro is a contributor so maybe there is good stuff in it. Might as well give it a go.

RoadJack, most regulars will tell you "those are old books, the game has changed completely. much more aggressive......... yada, yada, yada"

i tend to disagree..... i look at strategy books as analogous to food theory as opposed to recipe books. you do have to be aware that the books do have some bias towards play conditions when they were written.

not sure the 2nd book i mentioned is hold'em

Hi RoadJack;

I haven't read this book but I did read one of his other books which I gave a good review to. However, I believe he's writing mainly for beginners who play in small live games, so expect the advice to be simplistic, which may not be right for many of the games that exist today.

Best wishes,
Mason
