Re: Review: High-Low Split Poker by Ray Zee

Strange to call this the worst 2+2 book. It is more advanced, more accurate, and is standing the test of time better than most of the 2+2 library. I would prefer my opponents read almost any other 2+2 book.

Wing--

Advanced players can be beginners at a given form of poker. Good dedicated students can also frequently do better by starting with more advanced poker texts.

Nate, good post, but I think you must play a lot higher than me...

90% of the guys I play against (4/8 or 6/12) would only be thoroughly confused if they read Zee's book. I still think there are much better sources of info out there for LL O/8 players, even "advanced" ones...

Fair enough. Actually, Super/System 2's material on O8 is quite good, and should be easier for low-limit players to understand.

Some of this is also a function of goals. I think that low-limit players with the both the desire and ability to eventually beat bigger games will almost uniformly be able to jump right into something like Ray Zee's book.

Yeah, I think the SS2 stuff is excellent, too, maybe the best section in the whole book.

Re: Review: High-Low Split Poker by Ray Zee

tnx for the review.

i do believe all players would greatly benefit from the book. advanced or intermediate the most of course. but if you are a decent player of other games your skills can be transfered quickly enough to split.
so even a novice at the game can benefit from the book right away if he is experienced in poker.

a complete novice i think should get his feet wet with limit holem or seven stud first then expand his horizons.

no harm in reading any book once thru and getting a feel for it and then coming back when you can get the greatest use of it. if you havent at least skimmed thru it you wont know when you are reeady to digest its value.
