The charts cover detailed 3-, 4-, and 5-betting equilibrium solutions that include all sorts of raise sizes, so they are not just "push or fold" and do include post-flop considerations like position, stack size, playability, etc. There are also exploitive solutions as well, so it's not just equilibrium.

There are several graphs that focus on blind defense and show how your blind defense should change based on opener's range, stack size, raise size, tournament pressure, etc.

Finally, there are some very detailed equilibrium solutions for 15BB and 20BB heads-up that use small raise sizes and post-flop play again.

I can't comment on the e-readers because I don't have any copies of them, but I'm sure people are looking into this.

I just wonder if it's a problem we have to deal with, or if there's some way to fix it. It seems pretty screwy that e-books are being sold with issues like that, issues that are pretty vital to the information collected in the book.

Re: Raiser's Edge

We know from experience that to do and e-book right and maintain the images, charts and graphs in a viewable form, is an expensive, time consuming project. This was part of the reason for a slow roll-out of 2+2 e-books.

Re: Raiser's Edge

I was looking to get an e-reader, but with the majority of my book purchases being poker books, I'm not sure about that now.

Tomorrow I am going to either read this, the Annie Duke book, or go see X-Men: First Class and Transformers 3.

Re: Raiser's Edge

FWIW, I'm using Kindle for PC, not an actual hardware reader.

Just answering my own question based on what Tysen said. I jumped ahead to the 3-bet/4-bet chapter and paged through. I saw a good number of charts there, they are simply black/white instead of colour (obv). They are still quite readable. So I think no chart is actually missing, they're only been converted over. They could have been converted better (different patterns instead of different shades of gray) but they are good enough.

Also, I have no problem with the suits, all display fine (kindle 3rd gen). So regardless of the 2+2 store's comments, I can see no reason why anyone would call this a "down and dirty e-book missing vital info". It is done right, and the price is just the cherry on top.

Re: Raiser's Edge

I apologize for that comment and removed it. Most likely the display problems of the graphics are device dependent.

Of course when you make a living selling hard copies, I hate to see such a large difference in pricing the e-book version.

I wonder if that has little impact on the money the author takes home per sale or if increased sales volume is the anticipated trade-off.

That's good to know, maybe this is only an issue with the Kindle for PC software. I'll keep digging around for a fix.

Definitely enjoying the book thus far regardless.

is the book more about playing aggro or handling aggro players?

Actually Peter, both are covered in the text, although it's difficult to quantify how much of each. ElkY (Bertrand Grospellier) is the lead author and his highly successful style is loose aggressive. Many of the hand examples are from ElkY's tournaments, so I guess there is probably more content on how to play this style than on how to defend, but it's really just a matter of degree. We think that laggy play is the most difficult to combat, so we cover this aspect as well.

Regards,

Lee

Re: Raiser's Edge

Thanks Lee, it's what I thought but wanted to clarify. As somebody who plays pretty LAGgy, I want to read this book but am saddened if it makes the games that much tougher.

Re: Raiser's Edge

I dont really play tournaments but i sometimes like reading books on them. I liked the kill everyone book. I bought this on Kindle and i am really enjoying it. It's really easy to read so far (I'm only a couple of chapters in). It's definitely a level headed book and has been talking about how counter strategies have and will continue cropping up once a strategy becomes popular. It very much talks about the importance of playing your opponent over playing one strategy in particular. I'm enjoying reading about the lags / hyper lags and maniacs...I can see myself entering a couple of tourneys in my free time and looking forward to busting out early this week lol 5 bet bluffs ftw! lol
