PokerStars FPPs for Books

You can now use Pokerstars FPPs to obtain gift cards for http://Professionalpoker.com in $25 and $50 increments. They are currently available through the FPP store that you access through the client and within a month will also be in their online store.

Twoplustwostore.com shares the same shopping cart so the cards can be used here as well.

You apply the GC after entering your shipping address in the shopping cart in the payment section on the next page. If your order totals more that the value of the card you will be prompted to enter an additional funding method, credit card, Paypal or Neteller. Currently you can only apply one GC per order but within a couple weeks we will update the store to allow multiple cards to be applied per order. Any balance left over on the card after a purchase is retained for a future purchase. Cards expire after three years.

If you are only ordering eBooks and don't wish to reveal your real identity/mailing address - just fill in phony info into these fields but I would suggest using a legit email address in case you need customer service and to receive a copy of the receipt via email. If your total purchase is larger than the value of the cards you should also use valid info otherwise you credit card payment may be declined.

You can receive customer service at sales at professionalpoker.com, via PM or ask general questions here.

Re: PokerStars FPPs for Books

Hello, Profpoker, Really excited about this, I perused your site the other day after noticing the offer in the vip store. You have an exceptional selection of books, and I'm really happy to have found your site. I will probably order a bunch in the next little while, although I just came back from a vacation to Fuerteventura, and brought back what seems like a suitcase of books. :] Cheers, hope this all goes really well

Re: PokerStars FPPs for Books

Was looking to get the $50 voucher so added 3 books to check delivery costs to the UK. The range of delivery charges presented is $66.26 - $202.85 (with the $202.85 one having the quirky name of " UPS Saver")! Surely a mistake? I've ordered loads of books from US retailers on amazon and shipping is in the ~£4 range.

If this is really your pricing you need to tell Pokerstars to put a warning on the FPP store. As it stands someone buying the $50 voucher in the UK store can't afford an empty box.

That is the calculation directly from the carriers with a couple bucks added on based on exact weight and delivery location. What three books? I might be able to fit them into a flat rate padded envelope and ship it for $28 per package. Those have a 4 pound limit.

Re: PokerStars FPPs for Books

Wasn't any 3 books in particular, was just checking the shipping costs.

All the options listed are couriers, don't you have a normal mail service you can use? If I was sending the same package the other way DHL charge £52 but normal air mail at the Post Office would be £11. There are a load of US sellers on amazon.co.uk that ship secondhand books for £4 postage, hitch a ride with them!

Re: PokerStars FPPs for Books

US Postal is my primary carrier. If the total weight is over 4 pounds first class is not an option and you have to pay priority rate. You can see what my raw costs are here: http://postcalc.usps.com/ . Check 1 pound 8 ounces, the weight of the average poker book, and five pounds, the estimated weight of your test order.

I know the impact high shipping has on sales. If there is any way possible to lower it I would. Most international folks are ordering eBooks when available and avoiding all shipping and tax costs.

Also you can't compare Amazon to a small retailer when it comes to shipping rates. They ship millions of packages each week and have numerous regional warehouses and sweetheart deals with the carriers. That is why most independent book sellers are out of business.

Re: PokerStars FPPs for Books

If you've got no control over it then that's fair enough.

Fwiw I didn't mean from Amazon themselves, there's loads of individual marketplace sellers on there that buy up second hand books and resell them. If this link works look at the sellers, a couple dispatch from Texas, one from New York and one from South Africa, all charge £2.80 shipping. If you get some kind of special rate for being an Amazon marketplace seller then maybe look at getting listed on there?
