I can't understand why you wrote 0,67(20)
0,67 isn't correct from my point of view... since KJ,22,88 represent his entire (100%) range
while 22,88 represent 1/3 of this range...
so IMHO
the equations should be
1 (20) = 20
0.33 (80) = 26.40

That's more than your humble opinion I'll get that fixed.
I'm pretty sure the reason I've not heard of that one is no one reads the appendix
Thanks again.

Re: Poker Math that Matters by Owen "QTip" Gaines
Having now spent a fair bit of time with this book here's my short review.
As others have mentioned PMTM builds up from the very basics of poker math up to the more advanced concepts steadily in such a way that there's no chance of feeling lost or confused. I bought the book because although I understood poker math, in the sense that I could use it when reviewing hands, I didn't know it in a way that I could easily do it at the tables, and would resort to rough shortcuts and rules of thumb. Through reading the book and doing the quizzes I'm now confident on working out the EV of a spot while playing and it's already having an noticeable effect on my winrate.

A book that show you the maths you need for a solid foundation for your poker game. Great tips to calculate live at the table and so on.
Nice work.

There is a kindle version. Which Is what I have. Kinda wish I had the physical book though, just person preference.
Good book by the way. Definitely one you need to read a couple times through

Sure man, it begins with really basic stuff and as you progress you'll go deeper.
However every calculation is well explained
You'll find no problems

klondi: From the back cover:
"This book is an attempt to help those who do not have a strong inclination to math or game theory but would really like to improve their poker skills. I designed this material in an attempt to not leave any reader behind. I started with the most basic concepts and worked up from there."
The target audience is people who are not good at math.

Re: Poker Math that Matters by Owen "QTip" Gaines
Hey QTip, I'm rereading again your book, just to refresh my memory.
At page 41 there is an error, in the table is written:
pair (not pocket pair) 5 outs, while we got 6.
So you meant 5 outs to two pair or you should write 6 instead of 5

I'm a bit confused, ServerB. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding you. The example in the book is:
"Pair – You have two different hole cards, and one of them paired a card on the board. This is different than a wired pair which is when you have a pair as your hole cards. Here we need either a 7 or a 6 to improve to two pair or trips.
Hero: 6♠7♠
Villain: A♣K♦
Board: K♥5♦6♣"
Needing to improve to 2-pair or trips is five outs. Two 6s left and three 7s.

I had problems with a couple of things.
I left a message on the DTB forum and got a response from QTip within 24 hours. Solid customer service IMO.

Re: Poker Math that Matters by Owen "QTip" Gaines
although i'm a math student, and poker math in general is insanely simple in it's concepts: will this book still be worth a read? i don't really care to much about the math in general when it comes to poker, since it's very boring and mostly not very useful if you go into great detail (atleast not at the tables).
what i want is some general math i will actually be able to do at the tables, and not with a pen & paper or with excel while examining my hand history - pokerstove does that for me. mostly stuff like cbetting against certain ranges on some general boards and stuff like that is what i'm looking for, or some general "rules of thumb" math for implied odds against certain ranges, ect. ect...
i also don't really want to be explained the most basic concepts, so if 2/3 of this book is about what a big blind is or stuff like this i don't really think i will benefit from this.
tl;dr: is this book for complete "math retards" and/or complete poker beginners or will it help me do super simplified math at the tables even though i'm a mathematics major.
