Great book, read the entire thing yesterday. I bet even Mason gives it at least 9/10.
Book is perfect addition to where he left off with How To Read Hands At No Limit
Section on how to make a specific player's life hell was super out-of-the-box for a simpleton like me

Re: "Playing The Player" - Ed Miller
Great news the book is out....
But I'm in UK..... $37 for postage..... WTF?????
It's crazy that it will be cheaper to buy from amazon.com than directly.... so I just have to wait until amazon.com or .co.uk pick up the book.
If I order through amazon.com it will cost LESS than $8 to deliver.
It's stupid - as the book still gets bought from Ed Millers company. Yet because of Amazon market place rules (I guess?) he has to charge a set (fair) postage price??????
It means that Mr Miller now makes less money - as he has to give amazon a cut. Why not just have the same fair postage on his own website?
Anyway I ordered the previous book through amazon.com for the same reason.
Grr.

Re: "Playing The Player" - Ed Miller
Thanks.
And yes it was/is a glitch on the system
If it's still showing that price just email Mr Miller and he will let you know how to 'work around' the glitch
That'll teach us to live in the UK
Anyway ordered now.

Re: "Playing The Player" - Ed Miller
I live in South Africa so have the same postage issues as the UK and that's why I downloaded it for my Kindle and you can have it on a PDF as well.
Seems to me that this is the right way forward.
BTW...enjoyed the book and looking forward to a second read. Adapting it to 6Max Zoom has been a really interesting examination of poker and I recommend it to others with the usual comments about price.
As an aside I found it a much easier and more understandable read than the hand reading book previously.

Re: "Playing The Player" - Ed Miller
An excellent, well written book.
Funny error, though when the author turns the nut low straight, but mentions that the river card, which pairs the board, is bad for him and that he would bet/fold, not realizing that he has just hit a runner-runner straight flush.

There were a few math errors in his hand reading book that I was surprised were not caught. Since all the books I have read by him have been very good, I'm starting to think he keeps these mistakes in on purpose for some sort of added challenge for more observant or studious readers.

It's really difficult to edit/proofread a book without missing an error or two. I even notice errors from time to time in publications like The Economist. It's particularly difficult with a poker book because of all the logical issues, suits, etc, that you have to check, unlike a fiction book, for example, where you're mainly just checking grammar and spelling. (I suppose there are details of plot and such that one could miss in a fiction title, but they're probably harder for the reader to spot.)

Re: "Playing The Player" - Ed Miller
"should be" as in "I wish they would..." or as in "I expect they should shortly..." ?
I just took a look and I don't see the paperbacks listed there yet. Do you have some information that they will be added sometime soon?

Re: "Playing The Player" - Ed Miller
I've read the whole book, and it's excellent. The book is organized according to player types: TAGs, LAGs, and Bad Players. For each player type, Miller analyzes how that type of player approaches the game. He discusses when that type of player will raise, 3-bet, call, bet-fold, etc. After building the player profile and approach to various common scenarios, Miller discusses how to outplay that player type in that scenario.
I recognized a lot of myself in this book, and I felt that Miller was generally spot on regarding how I would tend to approach a particular circumstance. That gives me a good deal of confidence that Miller accurately assesses how the other player types will approach the game and what their patterns of bets, calls, and raises really mean.
Finally, I think that the book is best suited for intermediate players looking to improve their win-rates. I don't think beginners or players with limited time at the table will fully grasp the concepts and counter-strategies that are outlined.
However, if you've spent significant time at the table and can't seem to improve your winrate above a certain level, this book will help. I highly recommend it.
