I don't think this book is geared specifically to cash games but more poker theory and concepts in general. Perhaps this book would be better suited under a General Poker Concepts/Theory list that would include books such as Theory of Poker, Mike Caro's books, Mason's Poker Essay books, Ciaffone's Improve Your Poker and other books that are more geared towards thinking about poker concepts in general and includes examples from different games.

Hey Guys unfortunately I will not be updating this thread anymore.
I had put AN INORDINATE AMOUNT of TIME to create several other threads like this where I listed all the books ever written sorted by argument (poker tournaments, sitngo, limit, psychology of poker, mathematics of poker, etc.)
Unfortunately these threads have been deleted (the person who did it could at least have had the decency to notify me via private message, FIY I read the terms and conditions of this forum and there was no rule against what I did).
Anyway, a lot of time wasted for me, and a loss for the forum IMHO. My intention was to create several guides so to avoid the same questions that appear in new threads over and over like "what are good books on sng?", "what are good books on tourneys?", etc.
These would have been a great improvement but was probably going against someone's wallet ;-)
Anyway, Au Revoir 2 plus 2

I think it had more to do with the ridiculous number of "official" book list threads you created over the course of a few days in this forum. I was on this morning and there was an "Official Psychology Book Thread," an "Official Poker Math Book Thread," "Official Hold'em Book Thread" and maybe half a dozen others, all by you, and it didn't look like you were slowing down.

come on guys... let's be nice.

Reeder is a fairly new poster and he was just trying to contribute to the board. I actually liked the idea and thought it would be a good reference thread for all the titles by type. I thought the threads would potentially decrease the amount of common questions that are always asked (i.e. what books are available for cash games or xxx).

We should leave him alone.. he meant well.

Agreed, I was considering making a PLO list as well..until they started to take down the threads.

I think the problem with making lists like this is that just because a poker book exists, it does not mean you should bother readign it. A lot of bad books out there, in printed format especially. (I find most ebooks to be good, and their prices reflect the quality.)

It would be useful to have a list that also gave information about the quality of the books. This would always be a matter of opinion, however. It could only work if the ratings were done by a highly respected poster, or were voted upon.

An exhaustive list is useful but one giving information on the quality of each work would be even more so.

How about combining all the threads into 1 n linking to reviews.
I would prefer to read a review thread n ask questions than just the opinions of 1 respected poster.

Isnt there a huge post or book by some 15-tabler lowstakes grinder to achieve like decent winrate with some non-optimal but proven method to get a decent salary from online poker using stats from HM/PT3?

I have no need/intention to become an expert NLHE-player, I just want to be able to decently handle myself in some extra loose cashgames, livegames and some mixed games for the times I am "forced" to play NLHE.

Feels like reading books from old people that played 20k hands online maximum doesnt make sense when there is thousands of guys winning over 500k hands and yes, I prefer to read right now (love CR but am in a reading period).

In case someone wants to know , the book "How to beat no-limit hold em 6-max cash games" by Bill Vosti is not worth reading , read it about a month ago and there's nothing new in there , just a copy of what you probably already read so far in other books .

Good idea to have all the available books in 1 place. Wonder if OP is still around?

Couple of new suggestions:

Quantum Poker
Janda's book
Jared Tendler

+1 mad respect for OP, subbed

imo thread had quite a bit of potential and I would have definitely benefited from something like reading list like this when I first started getting serious about poker.

If OP (or anyone else is still interested), I'd like to give a shout out to:

OP, I think if you had titled the thread(s): The Unofficial NLHE Cash Books Guide, etc. there might have been less fluster.

I think the best suggestion I read, if this endeavor was to be pursued, and that would be to have a sticky to link to the discussion threads for all the different books. I'm not a fan of rated lists for the reason that you add a book that I or someone else thinks sucks, then you comment on that. And then someone rushes to the defense, then someone says why it doesn't suck, and then all of a sudden you have a non-focused rambling discussion thread.. So I like the link to discussion threads the best.
