Bill Rini's review: "Overall it’s a solid book on a topic that isn’t covered in any great detail elsewhere." "I really can’t recommend How to Read Hands enough." "I can truly say that this is one of the first books I’ve read in years that I’ve felt is a must-have book for aspiring poker players"

It looks like Hole Card Confessions is focused on hand reading too.

I just finished my first quick read-thru of HTRHANLH and I can assure you that there is nothing new in this book; if you have read Ed's other books or any other competent poker author in the last few years save your money and skip it. Its just a bunch of writing, blah..blah...blah. I think the hand reading discussions in the LLSNLHE forum threads are going to be more much useful than this.

Can someone explain exactly what this book is designed to accomplish? Is it about reading the board, or trying to narrow the range of what your opponent is holding based upon action?

The book aims to teach the latter, and I think Bicycle cards includes a free guide on how to read the board, if you need help on that as well.

I just finished the book. It is highly influenced by 'Weighing the Odds in Holdem'. I actually find it hard to believe that King Yao didnt have anything to do with this book. If you are a fan of the DIPO method, you will definitely see value in this thorough book.

I see it as another tool to add to my arsenal. I differentiate between the coach and the player. Without good coaches how can you be a good player. It takes efforts on both sides. And this is just another tool to be used in order to add to your knowledge.

Re: New Book: How To Read Hands At No-Limit Hold’em by Ed Miller

I am new to e-books and I am not very good with computers. This is the first e-book I have ever purchased. I am using a mac. The download was simple. I used the password they sent. IT opened the PDF fine. When I close the PDF. I have to use the password every time I want to re-open the book. Is this correct? Do I need to memorize some stupid password in order to read this book.. How can I set it up so I can just open the book and read it.

Actually all I get when I put the password in is the cover. All the text is still locked.

Cheers

Someone in here said it was more for a live setting. I thought something like lack of a disscussion of stats etc might be the reason.
