New Book Announcement -- Applications of No-Limit Hold 'em New Book Announcement -- Applications of No-Limit Hold 'em

11-02-2012 , 05:58 PM
Hi Everyone:

I want to announce a new book which we're now working on: Applications of No-Limit Hold 'em; A Guide to Understanding Theoretical Sound Poker by Matthew Janda. This is a major work and we expect the final text to be over 500 pages.

Even though we have started our review/editing process, we don't have a tentative publication date, but hopefully it will be finished sometime during the first half of 2013. And as I get more specific information, it will be posted here.

Best wishes,
Mason

Mathew has one of the best theoretical understandings of NLHE out there. This should be a quality book.

After watching a few of his vids I'm putting this as a must buy when it comes out.

With it expected to be over 500 pages, any chance it can be split into two volumes?

I think this book will be pretty deep.

Hi Doc:

To go to two volumes it would need to be closer to 600 pages. But we're just getting into the book, the author is still working on part of the manuscript, and it's always possible that we may ask Mathew to write additional material, so at this time I won't rule out two volumes even though that's not the current plan.

Best wishes,
Mason

I coached Matt some 5-7 years ago and after touching base with him and hearing of this book we spoke a bit about poker theory (well more him than me) and it is absolutely safe to say the student has become the master.

I've spoken with hundreds if not thousands of people in the poker world, about poker, about hands and theory and all of it. It's very rare to come across someone who "gets it", especially on a deep theoretical and fundamental level. Matt gets it. I don't even play NLHE any more but I'll be buying this book.

How much will the book be?

As the book isn't finished, I don't think they can tell you.

This is bad news for the games. Janda makes arguably the best videos I've seen: only Galfond and Grindcore run him close IMO.

It's not just what he know, it's that he shows you how to do the same calculations.

The book should be an instant classic.

Hi Everyone:

We're working on the book right now, but it's going to be a while. It's a very big book.

Best wishes,
Mason

should it be "theoretically" in the title?

I don't like the title either.

Have you considered "inside nlhe"??

Applications in the title suggests you are expanding from nlhe to other games, or even non-poker realms.

I don't like the title either, but can't think of a good suggestion right now. Since they've had Theory of Poker, I was going to suggest Theory of NLHE, but they've also had NLHE Theory and Practice which would probably confuse people.

How about a title contest, Mason?
