Seems like most of the books that are recommended here are tournament books. I play 2/5-10/20 depending on what games are being spread at the local casino. I would love to read a book what is good for cash games?

Theory of Poker

Surely this is terrible and massively out dated?

The Theory of Poker will never be outdated, it's a timeless piece of poker literature.

Nothing in poker is timeless

How could the basics and the foundation of poker ever be outdated? No matter how "laggy" the game gets and how mathematical it's become, the basics will never go away. And without knowing them, sooner or later you're just going to become a spew machine more times than not.

well thats easy, think about before that book came out there would have been another book which was considered the holy grail. I remember people used to see it as in insult if you bluffed them and it was rarely done.
I remember reading in a book to randomize bet sizes based on the minute hand of your watch, this is terrible advice but by your definition the book was THE book for tournament play and so that bit of information along with everything else in the book is timeless.
The book is just outdated in my opinion, theres a chapter on being deceptive which is stupid, raising to gain information. Theres no talk of ranges or frequencies etc. Basically its a very basic book for absolutely beginners that is missing a lot of modern theories or ways of thinking in modern games and a lot of information that is really bad for todays games.

Theory of Poker is not outdated insofar as it is mathematical. Of course, it mostly talks about non-NLHE games and has some outdated stuff.

Said better than me with a lot less words haha. I just don't think its a good recommendation there must be better more up to date live poker books out there but tbh i am really shocked there aren't more, after black friday i though a few of the great online player who converted to live would bring out some really juicy material.

I've already read. I think it's a very good intro book to learn concepts applicable in all forms of poker.

I'd suggest Ed Miller's hand reading book and playing the player, as well as Dynamic Full Ring Poker by splitsuit.

Easy Game by BalugaWhale.

Covers all the basic/intermediate stuff very well.

I loved balugas book i wish he would release a more conventional type of book because he is a really great author and explains things really well.
