Hey gang looking to pick up a few books for Christmas this year and I heard that Kill Everyone and Razors edge are still up to date and good reads. I'm mostly a micro MTT /SNG player on both Bovada and live games grinding it out.

I've previously read the Dan Harrington books on MTT V1-3 and a few books on SNGs from 2007-2009. I'm a bit disappointed to see Dan's new book not get good reviews.

Finally, I was watching the ME WSOP final table and the announcers were commenting on the Legend's (Blumenfield, Neil , federa wearer) book prior to the November Nine. Doe's anyone remember that book and is it still up to par to today's game?

Any other reccomendations are greatly appreciated and good luck at the tables!

I think they mentioned that he had read the Harrington series BEFORE the main event had started....and then in preparation for November he read the Jonathan Little series.

I prefer raisers edge.Couldnt keep my interest for KE so only read half but a lot of people here give it great reviews. Also read JL 1and 2 which is great.Winning Tournaments One Hand at A Time v1 and 2 gets a lot of good reviews here too.

I think the book they referred to is the latest one by Jonathan Little: Excelling at No Limit Holdem. He has gathered together 16 experts to each write a chapter and although I haven´t yet bought it, I intend to when I have time to read it. KE and RE are still valid and as another poster has mentioned you have the J Little Secrets of ProfessiOnal Tournament Poker (3 volumes, although you could skip vol. 2 IMHO) and the Winning Poker Tournaments One hand at a time series. This is probably my favourite, especially the 3rd volume.

It´s hard to say, but since you ask, I would say the J Little Vol. 1 and then KE. As I said in my previous post, I really liked Vol. 3 of the Winning Poker Tournaments one hand at a time series, which from memory is all about final table play. Some of these books have their own threads here on 2+2. You can also check out the reviews on Amazon for all the books. My copy of Excelling at NL Holdem has just arrived so I´ll be doing a lot of reading in the near future.

I´m really excited about this book.

Jonathan Little's poker tournament books are the only books that you need to win and be great.

Yeah, so far so good. I'm only half way through the book of Vol 1 and I've noticed a big difference in my play and making deeper runs in MTT. How many times did you re-read?

Also, happening to make notes and flash cards to get concepts down more.

that's not really him. John Little has his own s/n and account here. I believe it's Fiery Justice, something of that sort.

raisers edge opened my eyes in 2012 / 2013 in MTT poker

not sure if it is still fundamental in 2015 but I find it a bit agressive to compared to todays game. (as predicted in teh book lmao)

I know but you can have more than one account on two plus two.

Looks a little bit suspicious to me. But I may be wrong.

Edit: pun unintended.

Believe it or not, but it isn't me.

Okay, I believe you.

Must be a fan of yours or something.

I think your books are great by the way. Enjoy reading them.

I would say skip Kill Phil (if you've already been playing poker for a while its pretty basic). Kill Everyone, and Razers edge are pretty sweet...

Harrington on holdem is still pretty awesome as well for someone just starting out in MTTs.

Yes, now that I think about it, you're absolutely right!

But Kill Everyone and Raiser's Edge are still two of my fundamental reads and I recommend them to everyone who's asking. Once you've digested those, I think it's important to think in terms of ranges and frequencies, but I haven't read a book yet on those topics that I would rate that highly.

I've got the Kindle version of Excelling at Hold'Em, but the first 3 chapters were "ok but not great", so I haven't read the other ones. As those are all different contributors, some of the remaining chapters might be great stuff though.
