Doesn't even work in golf unless you are in the early stages of a medal tournament. Most amateurs play some form of match play in which you are playing an opponent hole by hole. The way you win holes is by beating your opponent on a particular hole, so of course you have to worry about the other player.

Most of the advice in the book is about your opponents (hand reading, some info on tells, etc.) so the premise of the book is misleading.

That said, it is still a good book.

Didn't like it all for live NL. Seems to me to be geared to on line games. Curious as to what you liked about it for live play.

I didn't want to start a new thread so I'll ask it here. I play 2/5nl for a living but the last book I read was ace on the river 5 years ago. I want to take studying more seriously. Is Jonathan Littles cash game books a good start?

Thanks
After janda, i did not have a complete strategy, and read both of those to get more complete. Worked for me. Some other read the blackrains 2nd book, that is not in book form though i think. These will get through the micros no problem. Live through low limits. I have since completed my preflop strategy beyond janda also and been working with my position details and supershort and heads up, so there is more but i didnt need them to pass the micros. The blackrains full ring loose game book is in a book form if u play such live. There are some other ways to get more complete but i know just these.

For even the low limit online players, the list of books would possibly be about what not to read, so not too much lose in whatever one reads, if getting to low limits even, other than it costs time. I havent bothered to read much more though, i have like ten nlh books, some about tournaments and together with cash game and push strategy, some heads up books, i read one or two littles tourney books, and have an abc complete tourney strategy also for any number of players and stack sizes. There are many other tourney books but these gave me my abc there also, not having any major holes in my strategy.
