From Jesus' POV, He should really fold to any bet on the flop unless he hits a set on a Flop where it's the nuts

From my POV I would call with ATC, and Bet Bet Bet untill I was All-IN

How many have I bought? I'm not sure because I've given a number away and I think I've got some in a box but I counted a hundred and eleven a few minutes ago.

Which books do I like?

In no particular order:
According to Doyle (now "Poker Wisdom of a Champion", I think). More about life than poker

Biggest Game in Town - I read the serialisation in a paper as a 12 year old

The Making of a Poker Player - Seriously good. The "Jesus problem" is mind-blowing.

Maths of Poker - If I were left with one book, this would be the one I chose, obv.

Play Poker, Quit Work and Sleep Till Noon - mainly for the brags.

HoH 2 - possibly the best poker book ever, in terms of the impact of inflection point theory

Education of a Poker Player - classic stories by a poker playing code breaker
According to Doyle, which did become Poker Wisdom Of A Champion, is back to the original title. It seems like most of your favorites are more biographical in nature as opposed to playing instructives so I would suggest The Godfather of Poker and Checkraising The Devil. The former is Doyle's autobiography while the latter is Mike Matusow's.

My most recent acquisitions, if anyone cares, have been the two Dusy Schmidt books and Elwood's Reading Poker Tells. This last book is going to have the honor, probably dubious, of being the first book I do a review on. NOT because the book is dubious but my writing ability is dubious.

All in all, I would say we have many of the same books which is understandable given the volume we both have. Do not let it consume you or your game.

Like the one ring, I fear it has consumed me and my next acquisitions will be Little's books, the other two volumes of WPTOHAAT, and a couple of Miller's most recent offerings.

I have less than 10 poker books on my shelf or Kindle. And I feel it's enough.

You're on the right road.

The solution involves calculating the bet sizes, and "giving up" ranges because he's going to float with unexploitable frequencies.

!= means "not equals."

My collection is somewhere around 60 physical books and 20 ebooks (much prefer the ebooks for non-fiction I'll be referring back to). I find having many different authors' takes on situations beneficial as it forces me to think through their thought process to arrive at a position that makes the most sense. It also helps me understand how some players make the plays they make. Finally, I think it keeps my game a bit less straightforward than many of my opponents' games.

I don't recommend using any particular book or author as a revered authority from whom stone tablets have been handed down and you must play your game within that rigid framework. Try to understand an author's thought process and constantly keep your mind engaged for ways you can generate unexpectedly terrific situations at the tables.

Thanks. I have CR the Devil, and it's pretty good. I generally buy more strategy books than bio stuff, but I tend to find that strat books are thin soup normally. Math of Poker makes a lot of other books obsolete. For example, I was able to calculate triple draw strategies directly using it.

One book I forgot to include was "Hole Card Confessions", which did a great job of graphing different ranges to show how they might be exploitable. Best range-thinking I've seen in a book.

All of them.

At one point about 5 years ago I owned every poker instructional book currently in print, and many that were out of print.

Haven't kept up my buying since Black Friday, but my library is big.
Pics or it didn't happen...

Slowjoe: Are you refering to Mathematics of Poker by Bill Chen, Jerrod Ankenman. How do you feel about Moshman's book "Math of Hold'em"

BTW, I think I own a book no one on this thread has. A 1st Edition of Doyle's Super System. It's actually titled, "How I made a 1,000,000 dollars playing poker."

I think I have 40 books, 10 ebooks, DVD's, Downloaded videos from DC. PXF sub.

And I still don't know what I'm doing.

Kudos for the Brunson book! I'm slumming it with two hardback editions. MOP is Chen and Ankenman.

I wouldn't wipe my arse with the Moshman book. I have a little bit of a psychosis about badly taught math, and that thing is probably the worst example I've come across. It's just a knowledge dump passed through a liquidiser.

And I'm with you on the last bit "don't know what I'm doing". I can analyse a hand, but I can't fold the second best hand.

With the DC sub, they spent a long time going through MOP, so that could act as a companion. The important bit is the optimal strat section, roughly Chapters 10-22 or so.

Some of those books look like they've never been opened once, I have a number like that. I cleaned out a bunch but still have some 50 or so, with a fair number of duplicates.

My personal prize is this one, despite not being able to read it (I have the English version anyway):

>>>Your copy of SS1 looks like it might be a 2nd Edition. You might want to check. I saw a 2nd Edition on Ebay for $400.

>>>I have Moshman's book but haven't finished it. Not that it's hard, just not the most exciting book to read. I get bored easy. One of the reasons I've been putting off MOP. A friend who has a masters in mathematics told me it would only be a benefit for heads-up play.

And I'm with you on the last bit "don't know what I'm doing". I can analyse a hand, but I can't fold the second best hand.

>>>tell me about it. I've been making way too many hero calls. just stop it for the love of god.

>>>I think I have this series downloaded, but never watched it. Just so much good content on DC, never have the time to watch everything and internalize it.

Sorry, I hadn't seen that symbol before so I didn't know.

I like books that teach me how to think as opposed to those that try to teach me what to think.

I am going to chime in here because I think I have a very large poker library... probably one of the largest in this community..

Sorry for the multiple photos... I don't have large shelves so they are separated into multiple shelves. I have also included some videos that I have. In some photos, there are some bounded books.. those are the e-books which I have printed (pretty much have most of the major ones except for Miller's latest one).

As you can see, I have a lot of books I regret buying and probably should throw out.

I also have another 5 or 6 on my Kindle and probably a few more in my house (i.e. Zachary Elwood's Tells Book) that are left out. Just doing a quick count, I probably have around 160 to 170 books if I include the E-books and kindle books.... I probably only read about half of them and have reread a lot of the classic ones.

7 paperbacks & 80 ebooks. Not all are complete books. Some are articles complied into books.
Admittedly, I've only read about 14 of them and I don't plan to read them all unless I have a compelling reason, like a high recommendation or a variation that I feel I need to improve on.

If I had to choose, the following have been the most useful to me;

Winning Low Limit Holdem - Lee Jones
Phil Gordon's Little Green Book - Phil Gordon
Phil Hellmuth presents read and reap - Joe Navarr
o (A must for any live play, I've only just started playing online)
Harrington on Hold'em I, III - Dan Harrington
Tips from the Pros - Full Tilt Pros (i know they are currently the most hated people in the poker world, but most of the strategy advice has proven very accurate)

Yes, I have spent a bundle on my poker book collection. I must say, however, that the money I have won from poker as a result of the knowledge from these books have more than paid for itself. There have been many many great decisions I have made on the table with respect to folds, value bets, bluffs, etc... that have either saved me money or allowed me to win major pots as a result of the thinking process that I evolved from some great books. I would probably say that there are maybe around 30 to 40 books in my collection that would say are must reads for serious poker players.

With regards to comments from my friends/family, I used to get it a lot but now, they just accept it. Bear in mind, that I just showed you my poker collection, I have many many more books on other subjects such as biographies, personal growth, business, fitness, and anything else I can get my hands on (I read almost exclusively non-fiction). It is just my inquisitive and curious nature to learn.

Last year I had harrington on holdem 1 and 2, bought texas hold em for dummies by mark harlan, as well as the theory of poker, sold all of them at one point. This year I rebought theory of poker and I bought Ed Miller's getting started in hold em. I also got five free books from 2p2: the intelligent poker player, pot limit omaha, inside the poker mind, poker gaming and life and texas hold em poker (sklansky). For some reason I can only really read poker books if they are done in 2p2 format, everything else bores me. Luckily 2p2 books tend to be the best atm.
