Harrington on Cash Games Question Harrington on Cash Games Question

I have a question regarding the Harrington on Cash Game books. Last year he came out with an "updated" version of his tournament books, which I like a lot. He hasn't done that (as of yet anyway) with his cash game books. Do you think that's because his original cash game books are still very relevant to today's games? Was curious what everyone's thoughts are on his cash game books.

If we are talking about low limit LIVE cash games then yes!! His books are still basically the "bible" for 1/2nlhe and 1/3nlhe live games.

If you are trying to use them in reference to online 6max then perhaps not. But yes, if you want to just brush up on your fundamental poker skills these two books on cash are about as good as it gets for low-mid stakes poker LIVE. Ie- 1/2 thru 2/5 and maybe even 5/10. The second book focusing mainly on turn and river play starts to get especially deep and some of it will be stuff way above the average 1/2 players head.

If you want to get better and you havent checked them out yet, they are worth their weight in gold.

Hey GreenChipPoker....thank you so much for your response, it's very much appreciated. I realize that there is no one book or single poker site that will teach me everything there is to know about "live" small stakes NLH cash games, I just wanted to know if the Harrington cash game books were still a good place to start learning how to THINK about the game in 2015. Learning the basics, building a solid foundation, and learning how to think about how the game is played in today's game. I've been wanting to throw myself totally into cash games for quite sometime, but I keep falling back into tourney play because that's what I know and is a comfort zone for me I guess...but I really want to give cash games a chance.

I have to strongly disagree about them being "the bible" for 1/2-1/3 cash games. While they are not pure garbage I think you can do much better, NLHTAP for example.

Here is a good review

I think you are referring to live cash games and in that case I would recommend:

No Limit Hold'em Theory and Practice
How to Read Hands at No Limit Holdem
Poker Plays You Can Use
Playing the Player
Professional No Limit Holdem Vol 1

Also, although not specifically live cash game books but worth a read

Elements of Poker

Thanks for the replies guys....very much appreciated. I was at a game tonight and some of the players were telling me about Small Stakes NLHE. Sounds like it pretty solid for online 6max play but is also good for up to $5-$10 live. You guys agree?

I have that book & loaned it to a friend who has several books. He said about 10-15% of it gave him new ideas and/or info. You should be able to find it cheap/used on amazon.
