Anyone have advice for some books to read regarding early tourny play? I feel my Mtt game is strong when shallow but probably weak with deeper stacks so looking to learn.

I've read kill everyone, and the hh internet book winning poker tournaments one hand at a time.

Is Harrington on Holdem worth a read? I'm sure most info is a little aged but still good fundamentally?

The books you mention are IMO among the best out there. I would suggest you look at Jonathan Little´s first book where he explains how to play the different stages of the tournament with varying stack sizes.
