I bought most of my original book at Barnes and Noble as well. Sadly I sold most of them. Wish I would have kept them. During that peak I was reading a new book a week. Good times.
As an avid reader, I would find it interesting if Mason or Mike would tell us if a publisher can influence anyone to carry his books.
Personally, I have decided to write the manager of my closest B&N to complain about their poker book selection and tell them they are leaving money on the table.
Another Barnes and Noble is butting the dust near me. Only 2 left now. I would assume one of those 2 will be shutting down sooner than later as well.
I'm not a fan of the kindle or nook or any of the digital readers. I really like a hard copy of the book. Bend it, mark it, write in it. Much better imo
The crappy Books a Million near where I live had a fairly large poker section during the height of the poker boom. The section has gradually shrunk smaller and smaller (it doesn't look like they are reordering books when they sell or getting new books) and now is mostly filled with crappy Cardoza books that I think have been sitting on the shelf for years.

I was in my local Barnes and Noble the other day and the poker section was pretty small - much like you describe. There was nothing on it that was new to me :-(
