Getting back into poker lately and I notice much more discussion about considering your own range when making decisions in poker - i.e. you need to check some strong hands to protect the draws in your range, your hand is too high in your range to fold here w/o being exploited, etc.

Are there any books that go into this idea in detail and the thought process you should have?

Not sure about the thought process stuff, there might be some that cover that from the point of view you state. Applications of No-Limit Hold ’em
by Matthew Janda, covers the range stuff and the examples he uses include checking some strong hands with draws, etc. But you might be looking for more detail which I don't remember if he includes. For example, he will be folding many hands of his range on each successive street, and the remaining ranges will be balanced. Don't remember of he states it in the way you are looking for. If you haven't read it, it seems like a good place to start.
