Best Ebook reader - Poker books only

Hi Guys

I have decided to jump on the ebook bandwagon I was looking at Kindle as its only $139 here in AUS.

Seeing as I would only be buying & reading Poker Ebooks is there a better reader that would be suited to me or would the kindle be fine?

I don't know a great deal about ebook readers so hoping you can help

Cheers

The iriver story hd has a higher resolution screen, so it might be better than the kindle. I have a story HD and a 2nd generation Kindle, and the story HD is much better. Of course, many of the books on Kindle are a little cheaper than in google's bookstore, and the Kindle has more poker titles available. If you are handy with computers you can probably work out a way to convert mobi's from Amazon into epubs that work on your story HD.

that converting it's not trivial at all since it's involving cracking the DRM encryption etc

otoh, Kindle books can be read on any computer or tablet, Amazon is providing free software for this.

I have a kindle and have many poker titles on it. Given that almost all poker e-books are available on Kindle, I'd stay with the kindle.

The resolution and interface is very good and I don't think you are giving up enough to go to another e-reader by sacrificing title selection and price.

Re: Best Ebook reader - Poker books only

I am also thinking about buying an e-book reader later this month.
I'm not really familiar with the different manufacturers yet, so basicly all I know is Kindle / iPad could do the job. iPad is way too expensive for me, since all I want is to read e-books on it or maybe upload some mp3 files if possible.
Kindle looks like a good option for me, anything else worth mentioning? It has to be good quality and reasonably priced. Must read PDF, JPG, maybe doc.

Other question: If I have my e-books on my PC can I upload them to Kindle without problem? I have loads of interesting stuff to read, I hope it's not like obligatory to use their e-book store.

There was an article in a recent issue of LapTop magazine comparing the KindleFire and the Nook Tablet. I'll see if I can dig it out.

Re: Best Ebook reader - Poker books only

Just got the magazine the other day so haven't had a chance to read the complete article, but if you want the best eReader between the Nook Tablet and the Kindle Fire, LapTop picked the Nook. They cited larger selection, better eReading software and shaper screen. This came from the checklist and the verdict at the end.

Can't comment on which is best, as I've only used the ipad 2, but I'm pleasantly surprised. Especially when reading PDF files on goodreader, it's beyond fantastic.

Re: Best Ebook reader - Poker books only

I purchased a Kindle just the standard one with the keyboard and so far meets all my needs I purchased 3 poker books from Amazon:

The Mental Game of Poker
Raiser's Edge
Secrets of Professional Tournament Poker

As I said I will be only using it to read poker books and feel I made the best choice the Kindle will handle my needs and was well priced.

It's easy to read the books on the Kindle screen, setting up a breeze and delivering them to my Kindle from Amazon was also a piece of cake.

Also I found the Kindle easy to hold for long periods of time while reading.
