Best books in 2017 for micro/small stakes ? Best books in 2017 for micro/small stakes ?

Hello 2p2'ers! Welcome to my first post :-)

So this is 2017 now, and I hear online poker has changed a lot ever since it boomed in 2004-2011, and it seems a lot of books may give outdated advice.

What books are still relevant today for playing micro/small stakes NLHE ?

Besides everlasting books like "Theory of Poker" and "Mathematics of Poker"...

I'm considering "The Grinder's manual", some of Miller's books, "Building a bankroll", "Easy game", "Let there be range", "Crushing the Microstakes"...not to be studied on that order obv...

I'm looking for smthg oriented towards cash games, FR or 6max, for NL2 to NL10, preferrably comprehensive and sufficiently technical & detailed to help me form my brain as a poker player.

As a side question, how relevant are "Easy game" and "Let there be range" nowadays? It was apparently gold when it came out, but what about now ?

Cheers

Of the books you've mentioned, The Grinder's Manual is all you need. Any relevant concepts you'll find in books like Crushing The Micros and Easy Game are also covered in TGM, so save your money.

When you feel that you've mastered the material in TGM (which, if you are just starting out, will likely take a long time), consider Janda and Tipton for further theoretical study.

I started taking poker seriously again this year, after my monkey tilt derrailed my plo dreams years ago. I play on a segregated market so I had to play hold'em too as there wasn´t enough action..

I read easy game and it was pretty good. I think for the micros it is excellent. I think it will help you much more with exploitative play than the grinder's manual. You find a lot of bad players at the micros, so read it for sure. Also the book is excellent helping you think about poker as the grinder's manual is more formulaic, but is a better book for facing tough opponents.

Grinder's Manual is excellent too, just more boring and technical. Must read tough.

Ed Miller solo books are good too as are both of Janda's books. I would start by easy game then read TGM. Then decide if you want more exploitative/hand reading books like Miller's or more GTO books like Janda...
All of them are usefull...

I read a fair bit of Easy Game as well, and found it very interesting albeit a bit...how to say...too unformal for my taste, with lots of concepts and some examples but it's hard to wrap all of this up into a strategy. But def an interesting read, and more accessible than TGM. I think i'll go over it again. But I like the "all-in-one-ness" (!?) of TGM, although i agree it reads more like a textbook. I only have a digital version, which is hard to handle and would prefer a paperback but not sure it's available. Anyways, thanks for the advice

I hope it goes without saying but you shouldn't pay the outrageous amount charged for "Let There Be Range". It's a terribly written book, albeit with some useful content if you can suffer through it. So it might be worth $20 (but even then it's very unprofessional). As with any book, you could always say if something in there wins you one big pot, then is the book worth that much? But I'm simply comparing market values of these things.

Oh wait, I spoke too soon! If you act now, it's on sale!
