Best Book for Reading the Board? Best Book for Reading the Board?

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone here knows what the best book would be that has board reading exercises? Such as being able to practice identifying the nuts, number of outs, etc for a fairly beginner player at No Limit Holdem?

Not after a poker strategy book, just need to get better at reading the board faster, counting outs, identifying nuts etc.

Thanks.

I think this sort of thing is better suited to an online app (or mobile app) that can produce random flops. I've seen various examples on training sites for beginners (e.g. PokerSchoolOnline, PokerVIP, PokerStrategy), but don't have any direct links for you.

Even though it is a limit book, "Small Stakes Hold'em" does a great job in this area.

Just get a deck of cards and deal out some hands

I suggest: Getting Started in No Limit Hold'em by Ed Miller and Poker Workbook for Math Geeks by Doug Hull. Good starter books for beginners.

Totally agree with this and I'm sure the books mentioned above will also be excellent.

iPhone app "Poker Quiz" might be what you are looking for. "PokerOuts" app, too.

I believe OP means literally "reading the board" (which straights are possible etc.), not the advanced "what kind of hands is my opponent likely to hold, based on action so far"-type of hand reading
