Re: about the poker periodicals bluff and all in magazine
All In blows. Every once in awhile there will be one article in the whole rag worth reading. Bluff has surpassed Cardplayer for technical articles. It has it's share of "spotlight" articles, but they separate them in the table of contents, so don't read those if you're not interested.

Re: about the poker periodicals bluff and all in magazine
Because of this thread, I decided to look at the last issue of Bluff I ever paid for. Seems I forgot something good here. Mike Caro came on-board and was doing a monthly article. I have to say Caro always has something good to say, and yes, you can expect him to actually talk about poker. This was a very good move on part of Bluff to do this.
I also briefed over one article, where an author was talking about a poker strategy, and was somewhat flawed. He was correct in retards to the main idea, but the angle he was arguing was wrong. I specifically remember quoting part of it on 2+2 to see if anyone else in the theory forum agreed with the author. I do not believe anyone did.
Of course, it could be this author was far head over the level of the average 2+2 theorist... But I do not think so.

An article on Ron Jeremy (it's poke HER idiots not poker). An article on smoking marijuana while playing poker, I'm not kidding man. I'm sure congress is going to pay attention to anything BLUFF writes about legalizing online poker while they are writing trash like that. Also a column by Esfandiari that seems to be about clubbing & partying. Also they wrote one really good article by on Dan Harrington by Nolan Dalla. It said part 2 next month. STILL hasn't come up yet. Talk about false advertisement. Then when I wrote them about that particular article they pretty much tell me **** off. Way to treat your customers. I stopped buying that. If anything I look at it at the Barnes & Noble close buy. No way I'm buying that trash. Try Poker Pro or All In. At least all their articles are ganja free & porn free focusing on poker.

Re: about the poker periodicals bluff and all in magazine
Hey Pancho,
I am a BLUFF staffer. We dont have anyone in the company named Ken. If you are referring to BluffMagKen, he is a forum member and mod only. He isn't and has never been an employee of Bluff. So this is more a case of a forum member flaming another. Any problems/questions about the magazine should be directly addressed at support@bluffmedia.com.
On another note, I'm sorry you hate our magazine so much. I think we have a very good mix of entertainment pieces (Tilly, Laak, Madsen) and tech articles (Wasicka, Bonomo, Townsend, Caro). We try to have a little bit of everything for everybody. But obviously, as in your case, we can't please everyone. Good luck at the tables.

Re: about the poker periodicals bluff and all in magazine
That's for that correction. Yes, Ken is an *******. I thought he was with the magazine. It's largely because of his response to my query that I've stopped buying it. Well in addition to the crappy material in it. I DID enjoy the Tilly & Laak Articles though as well as the occasional Duke articles. Once again thanks for letting me know. I honestly thought Ken was with the magazine. You can still tell to suck a fart out of my ass though.

I'm travelling until next week. As soon as I get back, I'll pm you with the status of the 2nd part of Harrington's article.

Re: about the poker periodicals bluff and all in magazine
My complaint about poker magazines is that there are some clear advertisements that appear as articles, with no footnotes explaining that they were paid for. Does anyone know the legal rules about what ads have to be marked as such?

I don't think there are any laws/regulations, at all, stating such. Even on T.V. with commercials no one has to say "hey, Pepsi paid for this". Even infomercials don't have to. However, the station airing it often state that it is a paid advertisement and they're not endorsing it. But that's pretty much just a disclaimer. If a T.V. station really loved the product and were endorsing it they wouldn't have to say anything.

Re: about the poker periodicals bluff and all in magazine
I was saddened by hearing the recent news that CPP magazine went under in Feburary. This was due to a combo of problems, which I started to really grasp the previous December (not the last one, or was it jan?) when they had to shut down the presses due to new anti-poker advertising laws rushed through by the government of Ontario. The problem was solved by moving the main office to another province but it seems there were still other issues that couldn't be over-come.
I suppose this is good for Bluff though, who now will have even less competition in the field.
