I don't, sorry. Just buy a pack, scan them in & clean them up the old fashioned way. First you want to make one "blank" white card with the edges real nice and clean, then you drop in the design part of the cards into that. Whiten the whites and save as whatever. I look to see if I have a blank card but there's a lot to look through

Btw I wasn't sure whether I should change that bit on the back or not (you'll notice it's the same as the PSD provided). Let me know if that shouldn't be used and I'll make something else.

listening to non designers for creative perspectives will be a giant waste of time.

for this first submission, the idea worth talking about is using fractals as a basis for communicating the authors ideas.
I love the fractal! I actually make an analogy to the Mandlebrot set at one point in the book.

Re: 2+2 Cover Design Contest for Further Limit Hold 'em

Thanks for the comments - really really helpful! Like I mentioned, I've never done this before so it's all a pretty cool and enjoyable learning curve really regardless of whether mine gets used or not.

Changed some stuff around and come to a different version now.

For anyone wanting some cards to use, I'm going to scan some hi res at some point. When I do, I'll be sure to upload them here.

I don't count but I like it. In fact I wonder if Creel would print it matte/non-gloss so it kept just that look.

Hi Joe:

I think these covers are pretty good, and they definitely be contenders.

Re: 2+2 Cover Design Contest for Further Limit Hold 'em

I have an idea, but no talent.

An onion, with cards as the layers, and a card being peeled off.

If you use the idea and win, shoot me $50.

I had the same idea (using the onion concept) but I just had a close up of a poker dealer crying.

Re: 2+2 Cover Design Contest for Further Limit Hold 'em

Another cover. The playing card cube represents the puzzle that is poker and our struggle to find the perfect formula, or model, needed to solve the game. I just did yellow over dark since it looked pretty bold and clean but any changes/suggestions are welcome. I've never made anything like this but had fun creating the graphic for it and working on a layout.

*edit: If Im breaking the rule "6. It is not acceptable to remove or add features to an existing image." or this submission is unacceptable for any other reason just let me know and feel free to delete (just re-read the rules... used: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?...ube.svg&page=1 and generic card images to create my picture). I was planning on making a few more designs this month anyways . Cheers.

Dammit, I also had the rubix cube idea and put over an hour into it lol. I was going to wait a while before posting, but might as well get my other ideas out before someone else does.

Re: 2+2 Cover Design Contest for Further Limit Hold 'em

Hi Everyone:

I'm watching this thread closely and we're definitely getting some great book covers. One thing we may do is right now we have tentative plans for two more books over the next 6 to 12 months. So we may select a total of three covers.

Best wishes,
Mason

Re: 2+2 Cover Design Contest for Further Limit Hold 'em

This is going to be a killer thread by the end of the month, but if you guys wouldn't mind instead uploading smaller versions as samples? Those larger sizes (esp the 3900x2850 ones) are hard to page up and down though in some browsers + people are going to quote/repost them as the thread goes on. You can always post a link to a bigger version for people who want a super close-up.

It's past time to get rid of that chips image. It doesn't mesh with a lot of 2+2 covers and shouldn't be forced in.

Re: 2+2 Cover Design Contest for Further Limit Hold 'em

Hello. As discussed earlier, does the chip stack have to be on the front or can it be on the back?

Secondly, anyone know the deal with font sites like this - http://www.refont.com/ - any copyright issues or are they fine? Photoshop's selection is fairly limited.
