Sydney to Lautoka in Fiji and back, sailing for 9 days at around 35kmh IIRC. No idea how far it is on the map, I'm sure if you look up Voyager of the Seas they will spam you with all the info.
I've been to Noumea and Lautoka before, they were both crap last time, in fact this time I didn't bother getting off the boat in Lautoka. In case I sound like some insular Aussie nobhead, I've been to 25+ countries and I rate NC and Fiji so low precisely because everywhere else I went was either nicer or more interesting or both *.
Anyway, the boat was pretty awesome if you like eating and drinking and banging the companion of your choice. So all good for me and Mrs Beer...since I didn't tell her I was banging the cabin boy. I keed, I keed.
It would be a terrible place to party and/or pick up, the price tag kept the riff-raff out and also everyone under 40 who wasn't a child of someone over age 40. Great stuff for kids, great stuff for middle-aged folks and not so good for the 18 - 25 crowd but then screw those guys anyway.
Also, people were generally well behaved and polite to the staff, which was nice to see. I think it would pretty much suck to look after thousands of big fat rich people, which would be exactly what we all look like to them, so the least we can do is say please and thank you.
* Point of comparison, I'd rather spend the day in New Delhi than Noumea, at least there's stuff to do and they speak English, kind of. And it's absolutely mental of course.
