Re: When nits shove pf

Funny, I was on party last night and a shortstack nit was shoving pre every pot he played.
Stats were 10/10 or something. He sat there with $1, open shoving and 3bet shoving.
Except the table was fairly nitty so I saw him do this about 5 times in 50 hands and wasn't called once, and was totally breakeven!

Re: When nits shove pf

Preflop at 2NL there's no thinking involved... 4 tabling zoom I've been doing this recently and average about 2 BI's/hr on top of the other hands I play.

Built my 3$ roll up to like $41 so far. Pretty much just open shove AA//KK... there are enough short stacks or non regs who will call with garbage draws. Especially if they see you do this consistantly they'll think "He can't possibly have AA,KK etc again".

The problem with raising 3x is that too many players think "Its only 6cents" and you get 2 or 3 or more people calling you.. you potentially hit a terrible flop or they hit 2 pair.. and just let a bunch of people setmine, whereas you might have had that 1 guy call you with 66, or KK anyway and basically get a free double-up. Not that theres anything "wrong" with raising standard at 2NL.. just that if someone was going to call my 6c with some low PP or call my 2$ with the same PP anyway.. I'd much rather the 2$

Anyway I'm by no means an expert.. but its working out fairly well so far for me. Maybe its because I'm on zoom also. I wouldn't see this working past 5NL though and would definitely revert to playing "Standard".

My 2c

With this ridiculous strategy, rs03 roughly breaks even playing 200,000 hands a month.

hes playing Zoom now?

Wait, is it even allowed to actually mention screen names and discuss tendencies of players? Do I sense the banhammer falling on this thread?

I was thinking of doing some EV calcs to see if open shoving KK+ maximised profit, but I'd need to know exactly how often the shoves get called and by what hands. Are you shoving a full 100bb pre-flop and consistently getting called by worse, and is it only half stacks that are calling?

I presume so. He was 24-tabling full ring 2NL last time I saw him, but I'm not putting in much volume at the moment and haven't seen him around lately.

Well there's a massive thread all about him somewhere. It probably breaks forum rules to divulge his apparent strategy, but there are enough threads about Phil Hellmuth's style of play, and various threads with hand histories of Isidurl etc and I don't think they got locked. :/
If rs03 had any sense, he'd start open shoving 72, knowing he's unlikely to get called, but I don't think he has much sense.

Re: When nits shove pf

He's not playing Zoom 2NL 6max, other than that I don't know.

BTW he's now losing at -0.04BB over 2 million hands at 2NL. People say that 2NL players don't pay attention to their opponents...well rs03 has managed to overcome that barrier and get everyone to adjust.

Re: When nits shove pf

I'm just mesmerized by this thread. If this player in question.... who is not Rs03 open shoved again. If I was relatively short and on a first buy in I'd probably call with a wide range just to find out what type of hand he is doing this with. That's just me personally though.

When he was grinding 2000 DoNs a day, Pokerstars sent a rep to his house to check he was real. They apparently filmed him playing. With so many tables on the go and a decision being made about once every 2 seconds for 12 hours straight, he accidentally open-folded aces and kings a few times. http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/54...-1-don-666062/

Hah, that's quite hilarious. Here's the exact post for those who don't want to dig through that long thread:
