Hello all. Brand new to this place or any poker forum. I understand the basics but not much more than that. Here's the tournament I'm playing tonight and I want to know if I should be adding and rebuying like everyone else. I never do and I feel like it's limiting my ability to double up in spots I should be getting twice as much in return. Do you think it's worth it and is the prize money worth the buy in?? Thanks in advance. Hopefully I get some responses before 7. Lol.

7:20PM – $2,500 Guarantee (min. 20 players) | $45 Buy-In
4,000 starting chip (Dealer appreciation for additional $5, 1,000 chips).
1 – $20 Re-Buy (5,000 chips) Anytime through first break (starting stack or below).
1 – $20 Add-On (5,000 chips) Anytime until first break.

Your initial 5k chips cost you $50 and further installments cost you $20. What do you think is more cost effective?

I just don't know if I should be spending close to 100 bucks for the 2500 guarantee. That's what I'm worried about.

You do know that if they get more than 2500 in the prize pool they're going to payout the extra right? At least thats how it works most places

I figured that's what they would do but they rarely get more than 30 players. So if it got more than 2500 it wouldn't be much. With their only being 1 rebuy and addon, they'd have to have a huge rare turnout.

Would you rather spend $50 for 5k chips or $90 for 15k chips?

It's $90 total, isn't it? If you don't want to play a $90 tourney, don't. You'll be at a significant disadvantage if you don't take the rebuy and add-on, though, as everyone else will effectively be playing with three times your starting stack, but paid less than double your buy-in.
