Skill assessment? Skill assessment?

I posted this in the coaching thread - but I think this group might have better insight.

Is there a poker program that lets you play a large number of hands and then analyses your play - like there is for BJ? I know there are variables - just asking.

Yes Check out Poker Genius.
I am very happy with it.
You can adjust the speed of the game.
You can play limit or no limit, full ring or Hu. You can play different buy in levels both full ring and Tourney.
It tracks your hand history for every game as well as your bb/100 . It also lets you go back and replay a hand or an entire game.
Highly Recommend it.
1st 3 days is a free trial. Then its 65 or 70 US Dollars to buy. Worth Every Penny of it.

p.s the sb/100 is actually bb/100 there is an explantion of that in the help section somewhere. I think they do it that way so you get the right overall bb/100 if you play at various diff levels.
I much prefer playing under name A for 1/2 nl full ring only. The I use name B for ONLY 3/6 Limit etc etc.
You play vs bots not other people. The program simulates real games VERY Realistically.

Is there an evaluation of your play?

well if you consider bb/100 and break down of win% by street evaluation, then yes there is.
It also gives you you $ won or lost for pre flop hold cards that you played.
It gives you your bb/100 vs 9 players vs 6 players etc etc as well as from position.
It might take a few days to get familiar with the interface but I LOVE the program.
P.S. When you play a hand
there is a little lightning bolt looking thing below your name if you click that it just moves to the next hand it you are Not interested in sitting through a particular hand you are not in.

one last thing I prefer to disable the "advice" pop up its not very accurate in recomendations. its pretty good with a "this is a good spot to fold" but its not good at all with "you should call" because it appears it doesnt take into consideration how the streets
were bet.
Anyway feel free to private message me as I dont want to go on and on.
Check out the free trial and you can decide yourself

I haven't tried Poker Genius. I quite like PokerSnowie. Sometimes it tells me I'm better at poker than anyone on the planet.

(My average error rate is nearer 5).

There's a free trial for a month, but it's very expensive for an annual subscription, and it's not suited for a total newbie if you're trying to learn the basics, as it doesn't actually explain why it thinks your mistakes were bad plays. Unless you get very lucky, or find a specific exploit, Snowie will crush most players over a significant sample, as I think it's the strongest commercially available NLH training bot.

NeoBot is a rival, but I'm not sure if that's still being supported, or even if it gives feedback except for winrates.
