Re: Second pair
I assume you bet such large overbets because they get called often at Merge 4NL FR.
So when the occasional hand that calls beats you, don't tilt. If you have mathematically good pushes, smile when you get beat because in the long run, these plays are profitable for you.
Even in a 60/40, you will lose 40% of the hands. Yet you would take a 1000 flips at 60/40, wouldn't you?
[[truth be told, I hope you realize that you would very rarely get called (and win) by a good reg when overbetting this way. You say you had no reads on the first hand....tsk, tsk, tsk. You are just gambling. I do not approve.....except if I were playing against you. You make it VERY easy to fold a good hand.]]

Re: Second pair
Well the first hand he only had about potsize left. I tried making him think i was bluffing with the flush (I was sure he did not have it) but it did not work.
Now the second hand was just outright bad play. I am not folding my top set to this guy (bad i know) but he bets 10 bb out of his 30 that he has left (i either fold or shove) if he has the flush so be it if not he is not getting one more free card.
edit: By no reads I mean no stats, sorry for the confusion.

Re: Second pair
first hand raise flop, he could have ax middle pair or flushing, calling down is fine but when the j of clubs hits river a overbet shove looks like the nuts and even fish are not that stupid, if he has a flush all the money is going in anyway, if he has some sort of pair a half size pot bet is fine regardless of stack sizes, it is a value bet (how much you think villian will call with his range) but i guess shoving in some spots will be profitable because you will get called sometimes.
Second hand i guess you already know what you did wrong. raise bigger pre imo and check/raise flop or lead out pot size, no need to slow play a set on a wet board like that if his got nothing then so be it, letting him hit runner runner without letting him pay is a mistake and slowplaying at micros is a leak, dont do it.

Agree 100 percent with the slowplaying part. Raising more than 3bb pocket aces without previous action not a lot. It just seems that anything over 4bb and everyone tightens .

Hand 1 , I <3 the river overbet. Hand 2 raise the flop. Not only because you have the best hand , but if a diamond comes off on the turn or riv , its hard to get paid off by a worse hand.
