I had the following conversation with a reg I play with who always, always, always wants to RIT. He's a decent player, pretty nitty, and generally not someone I'm happy to see at the table (would rather his seat be filled by an action player). Nice enough guy though. We got into a big pot and got all in on turn, I had a very nice draw (pair, gut shot and flush draw) against his overpair. He thought hard and finally called my all in, I had about 35%. I refused to run it multiple times despite his pleading and binked the river (because I run good).
Reg - Why won't you run it twice? All it does is decrease variance so it's better for everyone.
Me - I don't care about variance, I'm never going broke playing this game. So run it twice really only helps you. Next time if you don't want the variance.
Of course, reg buys back in, then gets even more annoyed after I run it three times when a fish asked me. I later stack him again when I turn two pair and river a boat against his Aces.
