Run it twice question Run it twice question

lets say 100 was in the turn pot and i went all in for my left over 100 and villain calls with 20% hand equity. Would it be in my best interests to run this as many times as possible seeing as though he has called with terrible pot odds or would i be better off just running it the once?

i'm pretty sure the first option is correct but just looking for confirmation/explanation

RIT just reduces the variance, so it depends on how much variance you can stomach. Up to you.

He's going to beat you 1/5 times no matter how many times you run it...so actually his odds of beating you get better every time you run it. In a perfect mathematical world he would beat you EXACTLY once out of every five times he got a chance, so...

First Run: 20% chance he wins - you win.
Second Run: 25% chance he wins - you win.
Third Run: 33% chance he wins - you win.
Fourth Run: 50% chance he wins - you win.
Fifth Run: 100% chance he wins because we're on the 5th try and you've already fulfilled your 80% equity over 5 trys.

Basically, I wouldn't RIT against somebody with that small of a chance and give them an extra one. If you lose as a 4-1 favorite, brush it off and rebuy. Also, I've never heard of anyone running it twice in a game this small, usually reserved for the nosebleed cash games. Just my 2c.

I like to rio if people tilt for losing a whole buy in.

You always want to run it twice (or better yet three times) because a skilled player is at war with variance. If you have an edge in the long run you will win all the money unless short term fluctuations wipe you out.

When you're way ahead you run it twice (or more) to reduce variance, when you're way behind you want to run it once because variance is your friend.

No.you want to run it twice if you emotionally or financially can't handle swings.
A skilled player is not at war with variance. A skilled player embraces variance and handles it better than their opponents.

Borg - We obviously view RIT the exact same way.

I had the following conversation with a reg I play with who always, always, always wants to RIT. He's a decent player, pretty nitty, and generally not someone I'm happy to see at the table (would rather his seat be filled by an action player). Nice enough guy though. We got into a big pot and got all in on turn, I had a very nice draw (pair, gut shot and flush draw) against his overpair. He thought hard and finally called my all in, I had about 35%. I refused to run it multiple times despite his pleading and binked the river (because I run good).

Reg - Why won't you run it twice? All it does is decrease variance so it's better for everyone.
Me - I don't care about variance, I'm never going broke playing this game. So run it twice really only helps you. Next time if you don't want the variance.

Of course, reg buys back in, then gets even more annoyed after I run it three times when a fish asked me. I later stack him again when I turn two pair and river a boat against his Aces.
Me - I'm
