No.

To go into more detail you should be realising you can make a living from poker when you start earning more from poker in your spare time than your job. If you have to ask then you're not ready.

How does it feel to lie? What compelled you to do it?
No long time winner would ever ask your question in a million years. Even though your question has nothing to do with poker, it shows that you're quite new to poker and most likely aren't good at it.

Also, I find it hard to believe that you would've made $500k playing "poker geniusess".

Oh, isolated. You're better than that. Sheeeit. I've got 4.5 mil in play money myself on PS. He wasn't lying. Just forgot to add "in play money." You're usually pretty good reading between the lines.

*sigh* You're right. I've heard about them poker geniuses that started grinding play money as soon as Black Friday happened in order to keep them skills sharp just in case poker returns in their lifetimes. $500k is actually very very good against that player pool.

You can't make a living playing tournaments without using someone else's money.

I guess the ROI could be 50% in longer tourneys (online, significant money), but as it says, they also last longer. It is small money compared to cash games, as people play like 5 to 10x lower. Even when there is generally less multitabling and as so more fish.

Add the variance that means 1 to 3k TOURNEYS break even times, and one needs to be some lucky if not playing a mega amount of tourneys per year, or looking into ten year results only. The most winning players somehow manage to play that mega amount of tourneys.

Tourneys are mostly the place to win small money, like some hundreds per month, in the very long run (or/and play maybe daily mostly live in Vegas, and in the rich cases inside the EU up to tax free, though one could deduct more or less of the costs), and hope to get lucky.

Tourneys are a good place to play kind of no rake when the cash rake is high for the form, like split pot games, limit games and maybe even PLO (and PLO8), and mixed games. But that is usually just for entertainment, as they are few and there is a long learning curve.
