75% of the time I find myself playing poorly when my sessions come close to the one hour mark. Does anyone have any ideas about this? The weird part is that sometimes I feel like I can go on for hours, and others I feel like I'm playing terrible. The only thing that comes to mind is that since I'm in school, I subconsciously feel like I'm wasting valuable time if I spend more than an hour playing poker. I'm pretty sure that on Fridays (When a lot of pressure from school work is off) I can usually play for a while without my game slipping. All advice is appreciated. Thanks.

I'd sugguest setting yourself a schedule. It could be as flexible as "I must play 1 hour between 5pm and 9pm during the week" or set times to start and finish. Make sure it's completely doable for you and that you won't get any distractions during that scheduled time.

And work out when to play is better for you in regards to mindset.

In my opinion it also very much varies on the time you play.
If you tend to play more during the day, you will find games tougher, as what you get is players who have the time to play poker during the day and don't have jobs, etc. to worry about.

If you are looking for softer games, try Friday evenings and weekends in general.
All the hobby players tend to take seats at the tables and games are much easier.

Also if you don't feel like playing, then DON'T! You should be having fun at the tables and that's when you will be performing best. If you see it as a chore to be playing, then you don't have the right mindset to be winning.

The bold part is the most important factor. Never play when you're not ready, no matter how "soft" a game may be.

To set a timer is a good idea. But is the real problam that you're feeling stressed about wasted time or that you can't keep up the focus for a long time?

If you're multitabling, close a couple of table when you feeling that youre concentration is going down.

I think the timer idea should work well. Thanks for the advice.
