PokerVT - Any feedback
Hi All,
I'm looking for some feedback on PokerVT from a training perspective.
Has anyone here got a membership? If so, what is the site like? Do you feel it is benefiting your game?
I'm deciding between joining PokerVT and Cardrunners and want to get as much feedback as possible before forking out the $$.
Thanks

Re: PokerVT - Any feedback
I had a membership for 3 months but cancelled it about 4 months ago. PokerVT is good for a begginer to intermediate imo. If you need help with the math the professor does a pretty good job. Some of the Internet kids videos are produced badly with some of the audio hard to hear. Also some instructors say nothing for minutes on end while they arnt playing any hands. However others such as Adam junglen and John ettinger have some really good videos which I think makes the whole membership worth it.
They also have free trial memberships at just about every training site, also you should just watch clips on YouTube to get a feel for what you like.
But from my experiance I would say go for it, however I have not tried any others but I believe that pokervt definitly improved my game.

Booo
I've always thought about making an NVG thread ranting about how bad PokerPV was and how Daniel is just stealing money from people too ignorant to know how bad it is. I mean, there's some good stuff but meh. I got better from that site, but it isn't hard for ANY site to teach you basics when you're just starting.
Please just get blue fire poker and watch aaallll of Phil Galfond's videos instead. There's a free trial for it, too.

Re: PokerVT - Any feedback
I was a member a couple years ago, and the main thing I remembered was Negreanu's Small Ball videos, don't remember the other ones that well. I'm sure those videos are good, but man...Phil Galfond is just the stone cold nuts. I got so much better from his videos than from PokerVTs that it's stupid.

Re: PokerVT - Any feedback
I was a member for quite a bit but it was before Brian Rast joined, but Jason Somerville's videos were quite awesome. He explained many hands in depth and all of his thought process. I would say it would be well worth a month after the free trial just to try it out.

Re: PokerVT - Any feedback
Would you recommend a beginner with some knowledge of the game to buy a membership on PokerVT or are there better sites to learn from ?

Re: PokerVT - Any feedback
Bleh, just typed up this super tl;dr rant on PokerVT and misclicked some s*** by accident. Oh well. Short version:
1. On PokerVT, Daniel teaches beginners to defend a wide range of hands in the blinds (LOL)
2. Fast forward to Isildur1 vs Negreanu match...his coaches told him defending a wide range of hands in the blinds is a leak.
3. If Negreanu STILL advocates loose blind defending on PokerVT, after being told it's a leak, f*** him
So yes, there are better sites to learn from. People won't shut up about how good DeucesCracked is, so I assume that site is pretty good. I really like BlueFire Poker though...Phil Galfond teaches his students how to think of spots in terms of hand ranges, and that skill takes you very far in poker...even though it's not strictly in a tournament setting. I'm sure there's some tournament videos on BFP too, though.

Re: PokerVT - Any feedback
I used PokerVT for a few months years ago when they first came out. The site and videos are very polished. I'd say it has the least amount of content of all the major sites, especially relevant content such as stakes and game types played today. Its redeeming factor is the quality of instruction. Teaching is an art, and most people cant do it. You could have the 3 best players in the world try and coach you and you could still fail miserably because they might give very poor instruction and not know how to communicate ideas well. Negreanu is a good teacher. He speaks clearly and knows how to present ideas in an easy to understand way. This counts for a lot, since it's easy to get bored and glazed listening to a lot of coaches you hear today on the major training sites.
I'd still go with DC and the rest hands down and put PVT last on my list, but if you've already gone through the free trials I'd certainly give PVT a chance.
