Me too, because you cbfa to trial PT3 and see what it's like for yourself, yet you trial one after all your research that is, reportedly, buggy and then bitch about it.
All your research should have led you to the conclusion to trial them both, and see which you prefer.

Re: PokerTracker 4 vs HoldemManager 2: Which is the best and why ?
Not wishing to be confrontational...merely looking for answers.
To clarify....
I have not used either PT or HEM (nor bitched about them). I'd like a steer or guidance from members as to which is the most robust, intuitive and well-supported product (the hallmarks of any decent software) because we join forums to benefit from the experience and independence of the forum members. I've posted politely and tried to carry out as much research as I can first.
Much of the stuff on 2+2 relates to HEM1 (which I think is no longer available, but happy to be corrected if I'm wrong) or PT3, which the majority view (and one of their own developers) report as being problematic.
I have downloaded the trial of HEM2...didn't like it and plenty of forum members have said they are sticking with HEM1 for now. I don't see the point in downloading the trial of PT3, if more knowledagble forum members than me have slated it (and also it is about to be superseded).
Finally, still hoping for some feedback on Poker Office (which I currently use) and why nobody uses it. PS I got because it is mentioned by Collin Moshman is his SNG book.
Perhaps a helpful forum member would steer me towards which one I should buy as of now?
Perhaps one of the PT4 team could let me know when the trial version will be generally downloadable?
Perhaps one of the HEM team could let me know if HEM1 is still available to purchase?
Of course I could (and shortly will) contact the relevant customer support teams...but I joined 2+2 to get the benefit of members experience, hence asking here first.

I thought hem1 was still available, but could be wrong about this.
What is true though is that thousands of people used and preferrred pt3 over hem. (I've never used pt3 btw, always been a hem1 user, but I know many who like pt3 just fine)

HM2 does not overwrite HM1. It can co-exist on your system. If you actually uninstalled HM1, then you can re-install it.
Links to the HM 1 software are currently still available (there was even an update posted a couple of days ago), but I'm not sure how long they will be available. I would advise any users to grab the install/update file before PSAG stop supporting the old version entirely.

You will find when it comes to HEM vs PT, some posters turn in to the equivalent of PS3/XBox or Apple/Android fanboys, so you really need to take a look at both for yourself. That's the only way, until one clearly exceeds the other.
Both are similar enough in terms of functionality, that for 90% of users the differences are negligible. For some of the hardcore, one outperforms the other in having something that the other has, and vice versa.
---------
As for PO - I used to use it a longtime ago, before it's last major overhaul, and while I liked it, the support was terrible, hence switching to PT3.
I'm very happy with PT3 fwiw.

I'm not sure which of our developers has stated that PT3 is problematic. That is certainly not the case. Three and a half years ago, when we initially released PT3, there were issues with it, but those were resolved long ago. Today, the majority of problems with PT3 stem from poker site changes (which we release fixes for) and system configuration issues. PT3 has been solid for a long time. Very few people experience problems anymore.
As for PT4, we are currently working to clear up issues being reported by our current beta testers before we will release the beta to the general public. We hope to have the beta available to everyone at some point this month. Of course, that could change, depending on what issues are uncovered in the meantime.

Re: PokerTracker 4 vs HoldemManager 2: Which is the best and why ?
PokerAce - two features I've always liked about HEM: that thing where you can get a sawn off hand history displayed, almost immediately after the hand is finished, including all in equities. And the fact that it's easier to mark a hand for review in HEM, compared to PT3 (imo).
Will PT4 match HEM in those two regards? Minor points, maybe, but they've always struck me as important differences between the two products.

Re: PokerTracker 4 vs HoldemManager 2: Which is the best and why ?
Both PT3 and PT4 offer features to do what you want.
PT3 has the hand history viewer that you can launch via the PT Hud menu to sit next to your table and display the hand history in a graphical representation, including street-by-street equities. PT4 has the same.
PT3 has options in the PT Hud menu to mark any of the last 5 hands (including the current hand in progress) for review. PT4 does this a bit differently via the new tagging system in the expanded PT Hud menu. Both PT3 and PT4 can mark a hand with two clicks.

Many thanks for the info, PokerAce.
PT3 can do more than I thought. I stand corrected.
I definitely look forward to trialling PT4.
Thanks again.

Re: PokerTracker 4 vs HoldemManager 2: Which is the best and why ?
Poker Ace and Bumblebee99
Thanks for the helpful replies.
Poker Ace...therein lies part of the problem of discussing this on 2+2. Years of history to wade thru...and if you don't at least make a stab at it, somebody kicks yer backside. I've no idea where I read the post re your developer discussing issues with PT3...but I'm sure I did somewhere.
Anyways...I'm adjusting my training and development strategy. I'll soldier on with PO for now and focus on working on some other areas of my game that are less dependent on having a wide range of HUD stats and displays and then upgrade towards the middle of the year when one, or both, of the main players are passed the roll out stage.
Incidentally, that is not a commercial decision...the cost is peanuts. I just don't have the time to spend learning how to use software properly whilst fighting its teething idiosyncracies.
I'll wait until...
I know it runs on my 4 year old entry level HP desktop.
It is well supported with a good (easy to follow) training package.
It gets the nod from the majority of 2+2 members.
"It" can be PT4 or HEM2...could'nt give a monkeys as long as it does what it says on the tin.
