Re: Poker Stars NL10 = NL5
Depends how good you are.
What is your win rate at NL5?
I'm at 37.25bb/100 over 8k hands at NL4 this now but I am still waiting till I have around $250 before moving to NL10.

Re: Poker Stars NL10 = NL5
i think my winrate is
3.56bb/100 over 24772 hands
but what does it mean?
is it good?
i struggled a lot to start profiting consistently in NL5 dropped back to NL2 many times
now i feel i've beaten it finally
thats why i'm considering to wait 300$ before moving to NL10

Re: Poker Stars NL10 = NL5
From my point of view? Yes. The two are just as soft.
From the point of view of someone who comes from 5NL? I wouldn't think so.
Most players are still really bad, but you will come across some decent players that can play well more often than what you would at 5NL.
I would suggest 250$ before trying 10NL, 3.5bb/100 over 25k hands is rather poor so I would try to gather a bit more of experience while you are overrolled.
Move down to 5NL if you hit 200$ again.
One more piece of advice, the 20bi rule per level is not really that safe for inexperienced players, even some experienced players could face some difficulty when moving up with just 20bi's, I had to learn the hard way that 20bi per level was not enough to afford variance, and I did that at 50NL.
Not sure about others, but I would personally recomend 30 buy-ins per level to players who are still learning.

Thats a sick win rate, is it possible to maintain over the long term, if yes than I may consider switching to NL.

Sorry I can't provide any advice here, rather I'm hoping you can offer me some.
May I ask how you found 5NL compared to 2NL?
How did you play in 2NL (Weak/Tight? Tight/Aggressive?)

Nothing wrong with that stat.
Remember, your W$SD can be too high.
Maybe counterintuitive, but think about it: if your W$SD was, say, 60% (over a decent sample) you're almost certainly folding too much, only going to showdown with super-strong hands. That's a huge leak.

You should switch to NL anyways, you never experience the excitement of being all in, you just need to fade that club, turn is a spade ohhh thank goodness no club, safe, your heartbeat rate just slowed a little to 120 BPM... and now the river, your so safe, 4/5 times you win this, come on dealer ONE TIME NO CLUB!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHRRRG NOT THE CLUB!!!! Another 100 BB lost, your emotions are drained, earth's gravity has returned w/ a vengance, another buyin under EV good god I run worse than satan himself. Then the next hand is dealt, you get QQ UTG, you raise, some donk shoves in the BB, you call and he turns over A3o. OH GOOD! Just gotta avoid that Ace.. your heart rate raises up to 150 BPM...........

A positive win-rate is always good. 3.56bb/100 is not very strong for 5nl. I think you should polish up your game and play a little more before moving up. Honestly a good win-rate is at least 8 bb/100 at 5nl. I think you need a little more experience b/c your win-rate is pretty marginal for 5nl.

Have you played any PLO?
If not, you're in for a treat.

Re: Poker Stars NL10 = NL5
OP, at 10NL you will find the same types of players that you find at 5NL - there will be drooler calling stations, weak players who limp/call super wide preflop and play fit/fold postflop, maniacs, TAGfish, and good players. The only difference is that the overall proportion of players is weighted differently. However, you will be able to find plenty of tables with 3-4 bad players if you are willing to look for them. My advice is not to get all worked up about "moving up" but rather to seek out some fishy tables at 10NL from time to time and see how things go. If you can't find tables you like, play 5NL for that session. Eventually playing 10NL will be your default and you will have "moved up." Even at that point, consider playing 5NL when the table selection at 10NL is poor, or you don't feel sharp, or you feel like tinkering with your game a little. In short, play at tables where you have an edge and that are within your bankroll comfort level.

I'm not sure about over the longterm if that winrate is sustainable.
I have played poker for years without bankroll management and finally got sick fedup of going busto. Think I have went busto more than anyone I know lol.
Decided on Nov1 to start grinding from the lower levels and improving my game and following a very strict 25x buy in BR management rule.
Going well so far and that winrate is obviously quite nice but only time will tell.
37.86 over 8541 hands now after that session so yeah I guess at this stake level it prob is sustainable unless you run like death.
What are you playing at the moment? Limit? Iv never tried it, never fancied it. As the above poster says, you don't experience the excitement of going all in trying to hit a flush for 300bb's
