SB is BTN.
Shuffle
1 card to bb, 1 to sb, 1 to bb, one to sb.
Action on SB, who has position postflop.

In heads up holdem, the dealer button has the small blind and the other player has the big blind. The dealer button gets dealt the first card (because he is the small blind), then the big blind gets his/her first card. Then after the players get their cards, the preflop betting starts with the small blind -- the dealer button. After the flop is shown, now the player on the dealer button is last to act (like normal). So preflop the dealer has to act first and gets the small blind, after the flop -- flop, turn and river betting -- the dealer is second to act.

The reason this is like this is because if the dealer button had the big blind, it would be too much power -- the dealer would have the big blind (already a lot of money in) plus position for every betting round. This would make heads up play really tight with the small blind only playing with premium hands (in which case the dealer would most likely fold). So by giving the small blind to the dealer button, it is more balanced and a better game.

FWIW I'm not sure that's the right dealing procedure for a self-dealt HU game. I don't like dealing the top card of a deck after shuffling to yourself just for ostensible integrity.

Ahh, right. That was just the first hit and I didn't think to google search for dealing it without an actual dealer. Only time I ever dealt HU was dealing charity poker in a tournament.

Just watching a Joe Ingram interview with 'stickyrice1' and and he has been asked 'how did you learn the math' and sticky rices' response was 'just count your outs then times by 2 or 4, thats easy'

Now this is the first i've seen of this guy, but hes coming across as a total whale.

Is this count outs then x by 2 or 4 an actual thing? the interviewer didnt call him out on it

FWIW stickyrice1 is a ginormous whale and Joey won't call him out on it because, well, don't tap the glass.

Because the fact that you want to send PMs so quickly means you're about 75% to be a scammer

I will be attending a small live tournament(~30-50 players) with a large majority of amateur poker players who have no idea what they are doing. From my past experience several months ago, they have no real concept of bet sizing. Therefore, raising 5-7x pre and 3-4x potsize on the flop is completely standard. As well as overbetting pot and betting so much they leave a small portion behind.

Anyway, I am just curious what kind of strategy I can adopt to combat these bet sizings? Should I be folding to these wild bet sizings? Is it wise to completely forget my 2.5x-3x raises pre-flop since everyone at the table is going to be calling my raise anyway?

And what should I be doing in general to:

Huge underbetting/raising
Huge overbetting/raising

Fold much more to big bets and if they're doing it with the type of range you'd expect for a normal bet size, raise most of your c-range. Fold much less to small bets.

If I am an 8 BB per hour winner in the standard 1/2 NL ring game at the local casino, how much higher would my win rate be if I played rake-free home games assuming equal skill?

PS, thanks everyone for taking time to have a thread like this. I am new back to poker and it is great to have a little area where you can come with these silly post.

Depends what the rake structure is, the average buyin and the potsize distribution.

Also it's basically impossible to ever know your live winrate with any real confidence as you never reach sufficient sample size.

But basically, your win rate will be a lot higher without rake.

Sooooo... You're worried that taking drugs in the past might have a negative effect on your ability to play poker (seems like poker should be the least of your concerns if you're that much of a burn-out) and your proposed solution is to take different drugs?

Maybe a therapist to address the underlying insecurity might be a better idea?

So I can better analyze this with math, how can I best find the answer to a question like, "How often will x opponents flop a FD on a board with two of the same suit, if all the opponents have all suited connectors in their range?".
I'd like to know the percentage for 1 opponent through 5. This question came to me, because I'm analyzing a common spot where I raise a lot in a LLSNL game, and 1-5 people come with me and I have TPTK but there's two suited on the board. I want to know what happens if I bet and someone comes along with me, and then the third suit hits the turn card.

I know stack sizes are important as well, but I need to be able to answer the first question to better calculate my EV based off different plays.

I will offer what works for me but I will say I am a country kid from central texas so I am in no way one of those hippie, snake oil type of people who swears organic flax seed croutons are the hot ticket for winning at life.

But I do find that when I drink a cup or two of plain green tea, it is the only thing I see that makes a marked difference in my energy throughout the day. I use to work a very boring job where I sat in a room all day and surfed the internet. Without the green tea I would be constantly fighting to stay awake during the noon time hours. With the green tea, it was never an issue. The stuff is a couple of bucks at walmart so give that a try and maybe it will help ya.
