What does sLAG stand for? I know its some type of loose aggressive player, but what kind?

Also, are there any other special abbreviations for types of players that I don't know about like a pLAG or whatever? If so, what do these mean too?

Is there a particularly appropriate place in these forums to solicit study groups?

The appropriate forum for whatever it is you are studying?

That is, a book then go look in the books and pubs forum, SSNL look in the SSNL forum etc. Just a thought.

10 BB pot on the river. It's 1BB for me to call. If I needed 14:1 for that call to be breakeven , how many BB is the mistake?

Seems to me that 10/14 = .7, so I'm making a -.3BB mistake?

One time out of fifteen you'll win 11 BB. Fourteen times out of fifteen you'll lose 1 BB.

1/15 * 11 = 0.7333~
14/15 * -1 = -0.9333~

0.7333~ + -0.9333~ = -0.2, so your EV is -0.2BB.

...unless I don't know what I'm talking about, which is known to have happened before.

Actually you win 10 BB, not 11. So if you play 15 times you expect winning 10BB once and losing 1BB 14 times, for a total result of -4. Hence, on average, you lose 4/15 =0.27BB.

I'm sorry, I need to try this again.

LHE: On the river, my opponent bets and the pot is now 7BB, I am good 1/13 of the time.

I'm getting 7:1, needing 12:1

12 times I call and go -1BB
1 time I call and go +7BB

I make -5BB per thirteen tries

-5/13 = -.38 BB per call

--------------------

So the if you're getting A:1 and need B:1, the formula for how many BB it costs you is (A-B)/(B+1)

Is it possible to play 14/12 (blind steal of ~25%) on 12 tables of Party 25NL 6max without any tilt issues, being capable of letting go TPTK on the flop, and still be a losing player?

(If you can't tell, I lost 6 buyins today, without too many coolers).

Of course it is.

However, 6 buy-ins while 12-tabing 6-max is pretty unspectacular (ie: this won't be the last time)

No I mean that happened without coolers. I would be less disturbed if I lost with AA allin pre 10 times in a row. But I have absolutely no idea where all that money went. I hit sets and stacked people. There were maybe just two cooler situations and they weren't even for full buyins. I guess I must suck really bad after all

(The sudden change came from the fact that Party's new upgrade cooked Realtime and I discovered that I actually can fire up over 6 tables now without getting lag. I never multinitted before because I thought it's not worth it unless I can hit 10-12 tables. So as I don't even have a HUD anymore I thought that's what I should do now. I assumed my bb/100 would plummet of course, but I also assumed if I do lose when I multinit then I would at least see where the money goes. I don't. At all. My bankroll just shrinks, and I have no idea where I have lost it.)

Oh well, time to go back to good old 10NL...
