You need a much better understanding of how we make money at this game. The only reason we make money is because people make mistakes. If nobody ever made mistakes, none of us would ever make money and eventually all the money would disappear into the rake.

The bigger the mistake, the better.

It's not two pair, but you're pretty dense if you can't see what he's trying to say.

Say flop is T62,

SS has AT
Player with TJ bets and the person with 67 folds.

Turn K river 7

If the person with TJ wouldn't have bet, the person with 67 would've won with two pair.

But instead the person with AT wins and is still in the tourney and you have that much more to go to get ITM or higher in the pay grade etc.

Because nobody cares about it. It's only on one obscure site that nobody plays on.

hey cry me a river, i was reading harringtions cash book. just wondering do employ his tactic of randomizing checks, bets and raises. (seems tedious to me, especially if you MT) excluding when you have monsters and the deck crippled. i mean do players at 50nl even notice you limp K's pref? i doubt it. is this a tactic better suited for higher levels.?
I would think it's valuable mostly live, where everyone is playing the same table, and it's yet slower than online. The decent players at the table will be observing and thinking about every hand that is played at the table, because they have nothing else to do anyway. If you do the same thing all the time, they'll likely figure you out, and this might give them an advantage in situations where you clash, even if it's not that that important. Online microstakes to small stakes however, everyone who is good enough to figure you out is playing at least a few tables, it's way more profitable for them to increase volume against players against whom they have a massive edge, rather than maximise the minuscule edge they might have against the better players. Live, it's worth maximising that minuscule edge, because you have nothing else to do at the table anyway. Likewise for you, if you can do more work, then add tables and seek confrontation with fish rather than trying to outplay the decent players. The higher the stakes, the better the competition, the less the fish, so you will probably have to start doing it. But definitely, definitely not 50NL.

Is there a spreadsheet template with formulas etc. for keeping track of both your cashgame and tournament results?

How do most successful online players keep tabs on their results, with speadsheets or reports with HM and PT etc?

Most with PT2 or PT3 it gives you the most details.

You could try folding AA pre-flop.

You seriously don't want to play with ******ed players? I would be very happy to get all in with AA against 84o every single time. You won't win every single time, but this player would become my new best friend. Let him laugh. Tell him he's a good player. Add him to your buddy list and sit on his tables.

Or move up where they respect your raises.

Duplicate poker is just stupid. Also their suggestion that it's the only "legal" form of poker is extremely misleading and slightly offensive (are they saying everyone on 2+2 is breaking the law?). If you see anyone playing this at the WSOP maybe I'll change my mind. Until then it's just a gimmick game loosely based on poker that really has nothing to do with actual poker. Saying it's "skill based" is like saying Pai Gow Poker is skill based...

You could use an excel sheet if you don't want to buy HM or PT.

But I honestly think HM and PT are well worth the cost and less of a pain than excel to chart your profits or losses. Also helps you with stats of yourself and other players which is really good.

There are all sorts of recommendations regarding BR management, but with $50 I highly recommend starting at .01/.02 (aka 2nl if you're playing nlhe) for ring games. PS allows buying in with $5 at 2nl & $10 at 5nl and you really don't want to sit down with 20% of your BR at one table. Once you work that up to $100, it's up to you whether you want to move to 5nl with 20 BI's. Assuming that once you get to $100 you're consistantly crushing the game, I see no reason not to move up since they both play similarly. At least that's what I did, just be patient and don't think of it in terms of the actual cash value.

Most people are using Pokertracker w/PA HUD, Pokertracker3, or HoldemManager, but there are others out there. I don't play tournies online so I can't help you much with a HUD recommendation for them. The software forum would be a good place to look, but honestly if you're playing nano stakes you can do well without one for now. Read the FAQ's & stickies here and in the forum of the game your playing.

T

ahhh a dumb questions thread, good. so i dont need to make an ass of myself with a stoopid 1st post.

My question is in regards to rules

playr in my home game thinks he's daniel negreuna and spends an aaaaaage over supposedly looking into peoples souls. Which is tolerated. But now he has this new trick that Im not sure is legal or not

Faced with an all in bet, after his usual questioning/delaying techniques....he then exposes both his hole cards looking for further reaction from his opponent before making a final decision

he does it every time. Is this legal? Its just that Ive never seen it done on ESPN :P

I don't think you can show your hole cards without declaring an action, I know if someone did that to me my reaction would be to jump across the table and donkey kick them.

I've seen this done. Pretty sure D Bruns talks about it in supersystems as one of his ways to get through a tough decision. I'm not sure what the official rules are

I should clarify that these are not cash games, they are rebuy tournaments (or sitngoes I suppose with 10 players max)
