Last month's thread

A month into Autumn we should have all found ourselves back indoors (did we ever go outside?) sheltering from the cold and that means lots and lots of time for poker!!!

Post your goals, hands, anything poker related that doesn't deserve it's own thread.

Hopefully everyone has a good month.

September goals:

[x] Play at least 30K hands at 2nl
[ ] Play at least 10K hands at regular tables (6max non Zoom)
[ ] 10/bb 100 (Ev adjusted)
[x] No more than 6 tables at the time

Pretty much played as bad as I`ve ever done in september, just clicking buttons at zoom.

[ ] 10/bb 100 (Ev adjusted) at 2nl.
[ ] Stop convincing myself that villain is bluffing with that overshove!!!

This is my first beginner's bankroll thread. When planning a new project I'm a believer in making the first milestones easily attainable. With this in mind here are my goals for October:

[ ] Calculate pot odds in every applicable situation.
[ ] Play 5,000 hands (6 max turbo SNGs)
[ ] Read Collin Moshman's "Sit n go strategy"
[ ] At night make a decision to either play poker or go to bed, and stop mindlessly browsing the internet

If my mental arithmetic isn't fast enough to calculate pot odds then I will tag the hand for review. I'm sure with practice I it will become second nature.

The quote above comes from Gareth Chantler, Cardrunners coach and crusher of Zoom at 50NL and 100NL, I'm a pretty bad player, but I try to be less bad than the majority of people I play against so it will be my mantra for the next three months.

This month I have mostly been grinding 16NL Regular Tables but there has been an absurd amount of 2NL Zoom in there as well. I've won at both stakes but lost at 10NL Zoom and 5NL Zoom which I have also played.

Goals for October to December are:
  • Play only 16NL Regular tables, no more Zoom!
  • No more looking at EV line on graphs, and no whining about run bad!
  • Make the most of my Cardrunners Membership, the content is great, if I don't improve I have only myself to blame!
  • Play at least 25,000 hands a month!
  • Post hands for review both in this thread and in beginners forum or Micro Stakes!
  • Finally, learn to enjoy the game, this isn't my job and the money is actually fairly insignificant to me (Unless I learn to crush higher stakes)!

Something I will add to that, given someone else mentioned it above, is that I need to put some work in on calculating precise pot odds in game. I have put zero work into that so far in my game but got away with it thus far by just thinking 'close enough, call' or 'That seems too big a bet to call with this hand, fold' but if I want to move to 25NL any time soon I should know that stuff a long time ago.
