I think it's a good bet if you don't expect him to call more. One situation that occurs to me in this is that Villain either must be very sticky or he must perceive you as very bluff heavy. In either case, I think maybe you lose some small amount of value here. I mean, do you think he plays for stacks on the river with his exact hand? It is possible his range has you crushed. Sets, Ax two pairs, etc. as I type and think about it, I think for more than you bet, you probably run into losing scenarios when called. Probably a safe bet as it allows you to be called by lesser hands.
Always makes me abit nervous when players keep calling after a bet and never re-raise, makes me think they have a sick monster hand and are just check calling as they don't want to raise and scare you off. Nice hand though only way he could've really beat you was with a set.. or with a 9J straight very unlikely

Flat pre. As played, check back the flop or bet smaller on every street, unless villain is a station. He should only have a couple of Ax combos that you beat, and ATs gets there on the turn. It's super-thin to try for 3 barrels on that runout. 88/77/TT/ATs/AK are all in his range, which means you basically only beat AJs (2 combos) and random draws that peel twice then fold.
