My Friends Poker Stats (Need Explanation) My Friends Poker Stats (Need Explanation)

A friend of mine started playing on partypoker a few days ago.

His current statistics follow:
$90 profit playing 2c/4c NLHE/PLO (Mostly HE)
4-tabling
No software
Around 3k hands.
Played around 30 hrs giving him a bb/hr of 150.

Can these statistics be explained? Is the game that soft? Is it a ridiculous heater?

I kind of want the explanation more than him due to me believing 150 bb/hr to be unheard of. Jealously is in the air.

It's only a 3k hand sample and therefore means very little.

This is around 75bb/100 which is like finding a unicorn, isn't going to happen except for the softest spewy live games you could possibly find. The fact you are jealous makes me think he bragged about it and thinks it is sustainable. Not only do I think it isn't sustainable (not even close), I think he is probably a fish and when the heater stops he will lose it back and more if he'll keep playing. I could of course be wrong and he could be a winning player just turning on the heat but the fact that he doesn't realize this isn't possible kind of gives it away.

This doesn't add up.

Ballpark 65 hands per table per hour for full ring (more for 6-max) is 260 hands per hour. 30 hours is 7800 hands.

3k hands is roughly a day of multi tabling, it means very little and is subject to negative/positive variance so we cannot gain any significant insight.

75bb/100 is not sustainable, yes this is a heater, if reported accurately.

OP your friend is pulling your leg, probably pretending he is some poker god when in reality he has had some great short term variance.

I've had one session where I was up $60 on Zoom 2c/5c. it doesn't last, you have to win all your flips & be lucky enough to keep finding big hands against whales. I seem to remember almost 1/2 of the profit came from a ridiculously stacked villain shoving from SB for about 500BB's while I held AA in BB. He had A9o or something silly.

It won't last.

Just bet that he won't get over 30bb/100 over decent sample. He might even give you odds.
