This sounds like a stupid question, but I'm hoping someone has experienced it and can help out.
I feel like I play pretty good poker, but every night there are, without fail, a few hands that I completely botch. Typically this is a hand I have a very good feeling I have lost, but bet (knowing I shouldnt) or call (knowing I'm beat) anyway. Losing a hand that I played as well as I can doesn't get to me, but when I make these completely boneheaded plays it puts me on tilt a bit. They are typically big losses too. Over time these plays set me back hours.
Any advice on how to stop this? Or has anyone else had this problem?
Sounds like you are just an inexperienced player who hasnt called enough turn check raises with top pair (and lost) to have the compulsion to call beaten out of him. I assure you if you keep doing it and keep losing you will learn soon enough to stop.
Post some hands, lets see where you are going wsrong.
