Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

^^ nice graph

Overall, its tough to know where I'm at br wise because I keep having to cash out and I play on a few sites.

But I KNOW I'm losing money in PLO this month, 5-6 buy ins over a small sample
And I'm up in NL, 3- 4 buy ins over small sample.

Its just a fishy up to 50nl IMO. Seems like 2nl/5nl/10nl/16nl/25nl( aka "The Micros")on Starz is the same player pool.

I took 2nl seriously until I had like 80 bucks in my roll... then it was like.. what the hell. I'll call a bet for another 80 cents( which is almost 50 bbs at 2nl obv lol)...

Then I was like.. I probably should move up now.

btw I dont know why you said its frustrating at 2nl

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

Had to post this. Villain obviously tilting, but coz it was late I just saw the 2 7s come out and thought he'd won it. I was so p*ssed off I quit for the night (it was late anyway).

Went to do a hand review this morning and wondered why i couldn't find it with the biggest losses. Think it was definitely time for bed!

Recall being slightly worried by his large raise pre, then reraise, but he was pretty aggro so it wasn't like I'm not going to be getting Kings in there against him, and if he showed me Aces then so be it.

I guess it's more the fact that the fish will keep their hands to the very end and then catch their 1 outer on the river haha. But 9 times out of 10, you're winning over them anyways so it all works out

    Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

After my shocking day yesterday (lost 6.5BI in just less than 1,500 hands) I needed a good day today and I certainly got one: 8BI in 1,000 hands. I never seem to have a sustained period where I'm either steadily going up or down, it's just severe falls and climbs but as look as my BR is increasing I'm not complaining!

Was pretty lucky today because I won two flips for 100BB and my hands held up most of the time but was much happier with my play overall. There was 2/3 instances where I could of lost a stack with a relatively suspect call so I just played it safe and folded.

Got my English A2 exam tomorrow then my History on Tuesday and once I've done those I'll be finished school so I can begin plenty of grinding hopefully! Aim is to be beating NL25 by the time I go to university, hopefully on my way towards NL50.

You seem to have similar goals to me. Difference between us is I've got six exams left. :/ Four of which are maths exams.

Anyway, played another short session (286 hands) and ended up 1.5 BI up, which is fairly good going. It seems most of my biggest losses were due to misclicks this session (I'm trying out cascading my tables instead of using Party's stacking console):

    Would've folded river:

    PartyGaming - $0.02 NL - Holdem - 7 players
    Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

    UTG+1: $1.76
    MP: $2.98
    CO: $3.51
    BTN: $0.64
    SB: $4.35
    Hero (BB): $2.00
    UTG: $1.75

SB posts SB $0.01, Hero posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.03) Hero has 9 9

UTG calls $0.02, UTG+1 raises to $0.04, fold, fold, BTN raises to $0.06, fold, Hero calls $0.04, UTG calls $0.04, UTG+1 calls $0.02

    Flop: ($0.25, 4 players) 7 5 A
Hero checks, UTG checks, UTG+1 checks, BTN checks

    Turn: ($0.25, 4 players) 4
Hero checks, UTG bets $0.12, fold, fold, Hero calls $0.12

    River: ($0.49, 2 players) 8
Hero checks, UTG bets $0.35, Hero calls $0.35

    Spoiler:

And I meant to click raise on another table but this one popped up in front for some reason (surprised he didn't 3bet the river as it's got to be so rare I have FHs in my range with this line):

    PartyGaming - $0.02 NL - Holdem - 6 players
    Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

    UTG: $4.95
    MP: $2.04
    CO: $3.16
    BTN: $2.39
    SB: $0.51
    Hero (BB): $2.00

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.03) Hero has 3 A

fold, MP calls $0.02, CO calls $0.02, fold, SB calls $0.01, Hero checks

    Flop: ($0.08, 4 players) 9 Q A

Should have done what I did; fail Maths at AS level. Yeah my aim is just to make a little side cash at university so that I don't need to get a job, so basically I need to get as high up the micros by September as after that point I'll be depositing excess money rather than building a bankroll.

This hand was pretty sick, however. Can't blame villain for calling down with 2 pair, but river totally sucked.

Decided to play a few more hands (read: 300 or so) tonight. Not playing any more cash because I think that trying this against 2NL villains is a sign of tilt:

    PartyGaming - $0.02 NL - Holdem - 8 players
    Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

    CO: $1.94
    Hero (BTN): $2.62
    SB: $1.75
    BB: $0.70
    UTG: $2.01
    UTG+1: $2.04
    MP: $2.30
    MP+1: $3.65

SB posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.03) Hero has A T

fold, fold, fold, MP+1 calls $0.02, fold, Hero raises to $0.08, SB calls $0.07, fold, MP+1 calls $0.06

    Flop: ($0.26, 3 players) 6 T K
SB checks, MP+1 checks, Hero checks

    Turn: ($0.26, 3 players) 9
SB bets $0.12, fold, Hero calls $0.12

    River: ($0.50, 2 players) 2
SB bets $0.24, Hero raises to $0.90, SB calls $0.66

Hero shows A T (One Pair, Tens) (Pre 45%, Flop 90%, Turn 0%)
SB shows 9 9 (Three of a Kind, Nines) (Pre 55%, Flop 10%, Turn 100%)
    SB wins $2.19

I was actually hoping to induce a spazz from MP+1, but it clearly didn't work out as planned. I was the spazzer in the end.

I don't think you will have any problems with 5nl if your crushing 2nl.. obv you can still lose if you play well and get your money in good . so gl

So i gave NL5 a go, not too bad. Was only running two tables though so quite slow going as i was aware of my bank roll. but not so concerned that i was playing with scared money. Session(s) on Nl5 graph below. Made one stupid play which lost me a bit but managed to stack two which helped end the session on a positive

might start a blog on the challenges thread actually, to track my progress through the levels (if i end up moving up any more at all)
