Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

Ok, I'm in this month

Last month played 2200 hands of Razz, and about 200 badugi and finished up about $150 mebbe a bit more.

Plan this month is to play 4/5k hands of Razz and start 2 tabling at some point.

Anyone want a small volume prop bet as to whether I can hit 5K razz hands? I'll take $10 for a bit of motivation.

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

In!
Rubbish May in terms of volume due to irl stuff - around 800 hands I think.
On the plus side, ran like a fish on a heater at the end - flatline for 500 hands, then up 4BI in the last 200.

Goals for June:
Actually find time to play some pokerz!

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

My goals from last month (including this month):

[ ] Build roll up to at least $120 - shouldn't be too difficult but I've got exams coming up (currently at $100)
[ ] Boss upcoming exams (so far, so good I think)
[x] Put opponents on ranges more actively rather than basing it on instinct
[x] Seriously, stop donking off money in SNGs (only due to either being on a heater or not running badly any more. Don't think my play's changed)

Adding in:

[ ] Get as good at 6max as I am at FR (although whether that's actually a good goal is questionable :P)

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

Played 10,000 hands in May, went off poker for a bit and I didn't even get Silverstar as I only remembered yesterday and I needed 300 VPPs so didn't have enough time. Had a great session today ending up 6BI though and I'm getting back into poker once again so hopefully I can start putting in more volume especially now that I'll be finished school on the 12th of June so will have plenty of free time!

Think I need to sort my game out once again, think I'm trying too much at times and just need to settle myself down a little. Going to start analysing every session I play as this has been a huge weakness of mine and I often have a lot of hands on people in zoom now but don't know anything about their tendencies so need to sort this area out.

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

So, how did I do?

Goals for May:
[X] Hit Zoom 10nl
[X] Stay at 10nl
[X] Learn to lay down premiums when you know they're beat
[] Stop eating cake/pudding with every meal!

Hmm, wouldn't say I'd necessarily learnt to lay down premiums, but have been letting more go when I *know* I'm beat.

Hit 10nl which was nice and made a small profit so far but sample size is lolsmall atm.

Roll at around $215 now from $20 at start of my 'Zoom challenge'

Goals for June:
[ ] Make move up to 10nl stick
[ ] Get in more volume (play 4tables again)
[ ] Look at stack sizes before raising/3betting
[ ] Move up if I hit 20BIs for next level
[ ] Stop eating cake/pudding with every meal ldo!

Good luck everybody!!

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

Dropped back to 2NL for a bit due to running horribly at 4NL whilst using aggressive BRM in the first place.

Just a few hands from my last session.

Hand 1: Vil is 6/4/AF: 0.8 over 113 hands. I felt there was no way I was up against worse in this spot? Good fold?

PartyGaming - $0.02 NL - Holdem - 9 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

UTG: $0.80
UTG+1: $4.32
Hero (UTG+2): $2.00
MP: $2.70
MP+1: $3.41
CO: $2.05
BTN: $2.01
SB: $1.12
BB: $2.00

SB posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.03) Hero has A Q

fold, fold, Hero raises to $0.06, fold, fold, CO calls $0.06, fold, fold, fold

Flop: ($0.15, 2 players) A 3 K
Hero bets $0.08, CO calls $0.08

Turn: ($0.31, 2 players) 4
Hero checks, CO bets $0.15, fold

Hand 2: This seemed really weak but vil is 12/6 with a 3bet of 2% and fold vs steal of 95% over 606 hands:

PartyGaming - $0.02 NL - Holdem - 9 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BB: $3.21
UTG: $1.81
UTG+1: $0.60
UTG+2: $1.12
MP: $2.05
MP+1: $1.73
CO: $2.00
Hero (BTN): $2.10
SB: $2.00

SB posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.03) Hero has A K

fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $0.06, SB raises to $0.20, fold, fold

Hand 3: Stealing because SB is same nit from last hand and BB is only slightly looser. Flop hits his range but he checks to me so I figured he might have a whiffed underpair. Turn is the ultimate scare card, so I bet that too. I put him on a good ace after this. River is for value, but it might be a little thin in the circumstances:

PartyGaming - $0.02 NL - Holdem - 9 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BB: $2.37
UTG: $2.02
UTG+1: $2.23
UTG+2: $0.92
MP: $2.14
MP+1: $1.76
CO: $2.03
Hero (BTN): $2.56
SB: $2.00

SB posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.03) Hero has J 6

fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $0.06, fold, BB calls $0.04

Flop: ($0.13, 2 players) K J A
BB checks, Hero bets $0.08, BB calls $0.08

Turn: ($0.29, 2 players) T
BB checks, Hero bets $0.20, BB calls $0.20

River: ($0.69, 2 players) J
BB checks, Hero bets $0.32, BB calls $0.32

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

Hand 1 - this is not good. Bet flop bigger, bet turn. Even with those stats villain would have 3bet AA/KK/AK - when u check turn he just lays out a small bet and you fold?

Hand 2 - is that his 3bet% from the BB - if so yeah may as well fold

Hand 3 - Not a good hand to bet, even on btn. Unsuited, unconnected, poor TPWK type hand, easily dominated, even against nits imo. There is an argument for opening ATC here, but I like to at least give myself a chance if we get to a flop.
Once you get to the flop you have to realise you were stealing with ATC and just try and get a cheap showdown with your 3PSK. Building and betting into a pot which villain obv isn't folding to having called pre, flop and turn is a bit daft imo.

Rather than posting multiple hands everyday in this thread (which will annoy people after a while) post one as a thread in the BQ or micro forum and ask advice. More people will see it and you'll get more feedback.

From seeing the hands you've been posting I think you need to work a bit more on the basics. Playing ABC and betting when you have a good hand.

I'd really recommend reading and UNDERSTANDING the stickies and then trying to implement concepts explained there one at a time into your game and you will improve.

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

For the first hand, I just don't know what he's betting the turn with that I beat. His stats suggest he folds aces worse than AJ pre, and I don't think he's leading the turn with a king or worse considering the low AF. I'm not sure he 3bets AK pre and if he doesn't, we're hoping for a split pot. I agree about the sizing though.

Hand 3: Perhaps we shouldn't cbet, but why not bet the turn, given that we've already cbet into a wet high card board? He folds a lot of hands there I think. However, considering that I think betting the river is bad, despite improving to trips.

I should probably add that these were the hands I marked for review and I think in nearly all the others I took fairly standard lines (standard for a reason, probably). I also wouldn't take these lines against many villains.

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

1st hand the flop hits and you cbet. Checking the turn, villain is nearly always going to bet I think. Happens to me often (I play 2nl at Party too).
If flop misses me and I cbet bluff and get called, then check turn, villain nearly always bets. With air it's an easy fold, but this flop hits you. So a check on the turn looks like your flop bet was a bluff.
Villain's stats confuse me because they suggest he doesn't call much. What hand would he call with rather that cbet?
Maybe KQ?
I wouldn't say there is no way you are up against worse. If he had KQ, KJ, QJ or even AJ he might not 3bet with them and you beat all of them.
