JJ on a QTT flop (SNG) JJ on a QTT flop (SNG)

03-25-2017 , 11:44 AM
Hero: 1,255 (8.4bb)
BTN: 6,660 (44.4bb)
SB: 1,075 (7.2bb)
BB: 1,885 (12.6bb)

BTN was playing fairly loose.

Preflop: Hero has JJ
Hero raises to 450, BTN calls, SB and BB both fold.

Flop: QTT
Hero bets 843.75, BTN calls.

Turn: 6
Hero bets 411.25 and is all-in, BTN calls.

BTN shows 9T

River: 8

BTN wins with Three 10s.

Pretty sure I played this whole hand incorrectly post-flop. Looking at it now when I'm not against the clock, I don't see how I thought anything BTN called with was worse than what I had. I also don't like my bet sizings either.

It goes without saying that I am pretty terrible at poker. What do you guys think? How would you have played this?

I'd have shoved pre and won the blinds

Generally speaking, if your stack is that short you should either shove or fold preflop

Post-Flop doesn't matter, because if you don't hit and someome puts pressure on you, you are in a ****ty position because calling will bust you and folding will leave you with even fewer BBs than you already have putting you in an even worse position than you are in this hand.
You played badly pre-flop, not post.
Just shove.

Thanks for the replies, lesson learned.

Out of interest, how should I have played this hand if the stacks were deep?

Are the blinds at 75/150, possibly with antes too?

Don't open for 3x from an 8bb stack (or even a 20bb stack). With this tiny stack, just jam it in.

With deeper stacks (e.g. 30bb), open for 2.5bb or minraise pre, check-call flop.

No antes. His flop sizing is perfect for no antes at 75/150 if he is just clicking 3/4 pot buttons

Yeah I was just playing online so I tend to click the 3/4 pot button most of the time.

THIS!! you have less than 10 BB and you should be shoving rather than playing this hand OOP. Cause we all know JJ cause trouble. lol but seriously you should have shoved pre.

Just play shove fold (except maybe with AA/KK) <10bb. After 3xing, as played this is the easiest flop jam of all time.

Where did you get the 'extra' 450 chips? .. Doesn't matter, Even at 12 BB this is a shove PF so that you force the B to commit and hope that the other stacks don't wake up with better .. and perhaps hope you are shoving light for a flip.

I suppose you could bet 800 or so PF but with these stacks why let anyone see a Flop without committing? GL

That's what she said.

Anyways you're playing like 11,5bb and the SB is even shorter so this is nothing else but a shove. Start raising 2x when stacks are above ~15bb instead of shoving.
