Increasing max rebuys?

I originally posted this under Home Poker, but feel I will get more responses here....

Should we increase max buy ins over the course of the night?

Friendly game with a mix of very good and average players. $.50/$1 NL. Initial max buyin and all subsequent rebuys and top offs are $50 (50BB). Over the course of the night a couple of stacks can get up to $3-400. Someone gets felted and feels that the $50 max buy in is too low to be play effectively.

I know in most casinos that the initial and all rebuys are for 100BB. Is this a hard and fast rule? Why is it 100BB? Should we just follow the 100BB "rule" for all rebuys and initial buyins?

or

Should we allow rebuyers a rebuy up to half or even to the largest stack on the table?

Any consequences to allowing that large a rebuy? I know there are but want other opinions both pro and con.

Re: Increasing max rebuys?

The only real consequence is that people can lose a ton more and perhaps the game could become not so friendly. Take a poll and see what the players want and make it known that whoever runs the home game makes the final decision.

Re: Increasing max rebuys?

Its worth letting people buy 100bb, because the game is just better.
Its up to you if you think the game will die and people will become unfriendly if they can rebuy more than that.
