If live is really so easy

I have never played live but I constantly see people saying how phenomenally easy it is. Now the question is, if live is really so easy, why don't all the online players grind live instead?

Location.

Player pool.

Multi-tabling.

Speed of the game.

Rake.

Scared of having to interact with actual humans.

Don't want to bathe or wear reasonable clothing (Doesn't stop some people)

Pick any/all that apply.

Convenience and the number of hands per hour.

So it isn't easy enough to make up for not being able to multi-table? Like your hourly would be better playing online still?

There are roulette tables between the poker room and the parking garage.

Keep in mind live is 20-30 hands an hour; online can be upwards of 1500 hands per hour.

Re: If live is really so easy

This has been asked a hundred times. Regardless:

A large portion of online players play games other than NLHE cash(SNGs, MTTs, PLO, etc). Those games are either impossible or impractical to play profitably live.

Also, a lot of players will have a higher hourly online with a smaller bankroll. Rakeback, the ability to multitable, speed of play, lack of travel time, etc all help.

Its much easier to win live, but that doesn't necessarily mean it is as lucrative.

^ What he said.

Live has a ton more challenges then online. The challenges aren't whether to call raise or fold.

It's the boredom, the tilt, the alcohol, the gambling, the smell of degens etc.

Hahaha! I laughed out loud on this - so funny, and so true.

Re: If live is really so easy

yeah someone told me that there are more bad players live, but having access to a local casino is harder...

on the contrary it is better to build your fundamentals online than live IMO due to less being at risk

Re: If live is really so easy

In lots of places the only game that runs is a shortstacked 1/2 NL game, it's pretty hard to beat the rake when you're only winning 40-50bb when you stack somebody.

Re: If live is really so easy

Nonsense, variance is much less live than online. You can nut peddle live if you have the patience and have a fairly decent and consistent winrate

As others have said, lots of reasons not to play live. Live is also difficult in its own way, it is a very different game to online and so online players convince themselves that the reason they are struggling at 1/2 and 2/5 live is due to variance when the fact is that they are trying to play ABC online poker without regard to the fundamental concepts behind it and it just does not work in a live setting. Simplest example is that opening to 3bb in a live game is lolbad, online player goes "omgz live players are so bad they all call my 3bb open" when in fact live pro is thinking "omgz stupid online player thinks he will get heads up to the flop opening to 3bb".

Edit:

I would think that would fit right into most rooms. Half of them wouldn't wear pants if the casino didn't require it for entry.
