I have played in live games where racks are used, but am curious what people mean when they say "he lost 3 racks but still reloaded." Typically, how much money compared to the stakes is in a rack?

a rack holds five stacks of 20 chips. dollar chips would be 100 bucks, red chips is 500, green chips are 2500 and black chips are 10K.

Most 1/2 NL games play with predominantly $5 chips. Hence one full rack being $500.
