i've made my 1st deposit for real money on 25th april this year. total hands played 21731(all on stars). i had a rough start but i've won something like 22 out of last 26 sessions. i only play about 350/400 hands in around an hour 4 tabling a few times a week.
i've studied quite a lot and fabadam helped me analise my stats and identify some leaks i need to work on.

That's all well and good (Red) but you still have no sample. After 50k hands, or even 30k, I'll give you credit for stomping 5nl. But this few hands is just a heater.

i fully acknowledge this is a heater. the graph is 10 my last 10 sessions.
i don't think i'll make it to 50k hands, i'll be looking to move to 10nl once my BR reaches $300(haven't decided yet) it will be highly unlikely i can sustain 30 bb/100. today's session i ran at 24bb/100 so it's slipping down overall. anyway it's looking like 2500-4000 hands per week at the rate i'm playing. PM me if you want an update, i don't think there's enough interest to continually bump this thread.

You are if you are doing it right.

This argument has been done many times.
I think we should just leave the argument against proponent of "you dont learn anything at nanostakes" with simply what Ice said so as to prevent the next few pages having the same argument over and over.

move on move forward.

I deleted the argument so that this thread can get back on track.

Play nice!

Re: How hard is it really to beat the micros these days?

I definitely find beating the microstakes hard and I'm only at 2nl. For me it's a big mistakes here or there that destroys my win-rate sometimes.

I'm definitely learning the fundamentals better but if I make one error in a couple of 200bb pots or something when I call it off or I shouldn't have been in the pot in first place then an entire good session can go out the window and I'm down a ton of bbs. Then tilt can come into it, variance, running bad etc. I tend to have numerous modest winning sessions followed by one terrible session, erasing all the progress of the previous few sessions.

Also when I was a losing player rather than a marginal winner, the vast advice about 'ABC poker, play tight' didn't help me at all. They're like empty catchphrases that don't improve your thought process or play at all. If you want to get better you have to get into the the theory of the game, the reasons for doing anything you do at the table, why you're doing it and what your plays hope to achieve etc. Not some mis-placed mantra somebody is giving you because they beat 2nl 3/4 years ago or whatever.

It might depend on the site you play but at least on the site I play there is very little difference between 25nl and 10nl. Granted I have only played about 1100 hands here, but this is just from what I have seen. There are fish, there are spew monkeys, there are regs. Only difference I have noticed so far is the bet sizing preflop. Some people are stealing for $0.65 more often than $0.75. I see a lot more opens to $0.85 and $1 with no limpers in the pot. There still are standard $0.75 opens...just a bit more on the higher side than I expected.

Also, I saw 3 guys shove AI preflop. One was UTG and he showed 25 suited. After about 50 hands he was playing about 45/14. Another guy shoved in MP with no limpers yet and SB called him. The guy in MP had AQ off and of course got snapped by SB's AA. One final hand at this table by yet a different guy had a guy shove with AK preflop and got called by JQ off for about $12.

Money to be made here if I get my head out of my @ss
