Hi Guys.
I played thia hand yesterday. In my mind, I don't think I did too much wrong, however I'd like your opinions please. If I did misstep anywhere can you point me in the right direction?
I'd nearly always just fold pre. To squeeze light profitably, I think you need AQo or to be suited. (I'd rather squeeze with A6s or QJs than AJo/ATo). Size should also be bigger if you want to have some fold equity with your bluffs.
Flop seems like a completely standard bet for value/protection. The strength of your hand nosedives on the turn, however. When the flush draw gets there, you should be checking your marginal one pairs and only betting the top of your range (sets, flushes, overpairs with a diamond) and draws to the flush (these also have a blocker, making it less likely villain has a flush). I think it's a blunder to barrel with this particular hand, as there are no river cards you can confidently bet, which means you'll often have to check-fold. When the river makes it a 4-flush, it's a huge blunder to bet again, especially with an overbet. You're basically spewing on the turn and river. You took a hand that had showdown value and turned into a bluff that isn't going to work anywhere near often enough to make money.
FWIW, I think villain's river call is a mistake (he probably needs something like JJ with a diamond, or maybe even a king high flush, as you should show up with the nuts pretty often), but maybe he had you pegged as an aggrofish.
