First Time Back Since Black Friday - Playing Zone on Ignition First Time Back Since Black Friday - Playing Zone on Ignition

Prior to Black Friday I played online for about 6 years with the last 5 being profitable mostly at 25 NL/50 NL full ring and some higher stakes 6 max NL on Poker Stars. I actually hung it up maybe a month prior to Black Friday due to burn out but have regained the itch to play.

I made a small deposit on Ignition to play 6 max NL Zone Poker and have logged maybe 5 sessions at $25 NL with a mild degree of success. I guess my main questions are regarding the evolvement of the game since I last played and overall impressions or tips for playing this game/stakes. It doesn't seem terrible different from what I remember. Games feel soft and beatable for my current skill level. To be quite honest my primary goal is to simply have fun and maybe make a few extra bucks to treat the family.

My personal impression is people seem to play pretty straight forward, plenty of late position opens and 3 bet defends but not a lot of 4 betting or 5 betting. When I do see it it's usually the top of people's range when effective stacks are 100 bb+. Also big bets post flop seem to be weighed heavily towards value versus bluffs.

I've made minor adjustments from session to session. I started out fairly aggressive preflop, cbet based on position, board texture, equity yada yada. But tonight's session I played a little more passive pre and about the same post.

Sorry I'm rambling at this point. Anyways, what might those with experience playing this game/stakes on Ignition have to offer in terms of general advice. Thanks in advance!

I see no responses just yet. Perhaps my question(s) was/were too broad and vague. I guess I'm looking for overall impressions of 25nl Zone poker or even Zoom on Stars. I don't play Stars but I imagine the player pool is somewhat similar.

IF there are any general rules of thumb I suppose that's what I'm looking for. IE big bets are usually strong hands, not a lot of bluffing, no light 4 betting etc. Thanks in advance if anyone has anything to offer.

Brokenstars (who often posts in this forum) is your man for this. Find his PG&C thread. He has beaten much higher stakes, but I think he's recently been Twitch streaming 25NLz on Ignition. I believe he also offers coaching at a competitive price.

Yeah but who wants to be such a consistent decision making machine as Brokenstars when you can be a loose cannon?

Oh right.....

Honestly, if your looking to dip your feet back into the online waters nothing is better then cash games on Ignition for USA...honestly the tables are stupid soft...way better then ACR

but if you like the fast action, the best form of help I can give is take a look at your hand histories and take note of when you play...there have been times where I called into work b/c 200NL zone has been softer then I have ever seen and I've made bank, passive call/check/fold players will make any break even session into massive winnings... I just started on 100NL ignition and have a decent graph after a small sample, its not enough yet, but I definitely enjoy the challenge of not knowing who you're up against

This is my graph for 100NL zone, only 23k hands but if you want any tips or go over and hands just message me

25nlz is very soft. Though, games have certainly developed dramatically in the last 6 years the US was left in the dust and I'd argue many American players (professional alike) are generally behind the curve with regards to other parts of the poker playing globe.

That being said, ignition specifically is one of the softest sites available to Americans at this point in time and as a result it's probably not "too" far off what you experienced 6 years ago, but it is still likely harder with more rake and NO rake back.

GL @ the tables.

Thanks everyone...

Brokenstars - Yeah the games do seem pretty soft. I've been watching a lot of poker streaming on Twitch so I've been able to watch some folks talk through hands. Not a lot seems different but then again I/we aren't exactly talking high level stuff in the micros.

I'm not running Poker Tracker so I don't have anything to review sessions on but I've made some minor adjustments to opening ranges from EP. Despite some run bad in AI preflop spots I'm still up from my initial deposit. But I think getting familiar with ranges and how to handle some familiar tricky spots is what I'm going to focus on at the moment. I sure do miss the bigger sites though. Maybe some day.

Thanks again everyone.

is 25nl zone the softest? Have played around 3k hands on it (i know, not many) and need to figure out how to start climbing after mostly break-even sessions.

Dipped my toes into 100nl zone and broke even there as well but I am not rolled for it so hoping to get into the 25.
