Nah, but it is somewhat common. Just trying to give back to the community!

I just stumbled across this post (I know I'm a little late, been out of the game for a while), simply unbelievable Duncelanas! You clearly put a lot of work into this, thank you!

Great for me personally for two reasons:
1) I haven't played poker in over 3 years, completely went off the game, and now I am back I need to basically learn the game all over again - this is a great start! So much quality information included to help produce/increase poker thinking. I like it!

2) Great to see a name I recognize around here, it seems like so many of the BQ posters have moved on over the years! You were always a great poster bud, helpful and friendly, you gave me personally some great insights on 18 - 27 man SNGS a few years ago, so thank you for all your help!

Will be rereading this a lot that's for sure! I'll probably have a few questions on some of your work as I start playing more now I'll post them here if I do Thanks again Duncelanas.

I think a ton of things have changed re playing solid poker in the 3 years since this post was written, but I do think (especially at a beginning level) learning to actively think your way through poker hands is still an important skill.

However, given the state of poker in 2017 I think both more mathematical understanding of range interaction and what's going on and more of a focus on gto-style play are far more important and prominent strategically than they were at the time this post was written...at least once you're out of the microstakes.

Yeah I'm still around, somehow manage to make 1.some k a month playing online without really trying, for better or worse...no reason to stop I guess Feel free to ask whatever. Definitely surprised to see this thread bumped and a familiar (but very dated) sn!

Interesting point on the Maths, that's an area I identified straight away as my area to focus on, it seems an absolute necessity in 2017 poker. Bought a pretty good book on it!

Haha I was hoping you would remember me, its been quite a while! So much has changed in poker I'm struggling to catch up (even off the felt!). But its good to be back and see a familiar face!

1k+ a month? Without trying? Nice work bro! Now I do regret taking a 3 year sabbatical!

I wont derail your amazing thread pal, I'll give you a PM sometime - glad to give this thread a bump!

Third, due to the increased potsize postflop we can barrel bigger, making it easier to build the pot. Fourth, we can win the pot preflop by causing everyone else to fold (which may seem insignificant, but remember that this represents a winrate of 150bb/100).
Could someone expand on bold?

What I am getting from this is that if we steal every single blind for 100 hands we would have a 150bb/100 winrate?

Stealing blinds is something I have been trying to learn more about especially in Zoom games today. Blind stealing seems very easy as most people are waiting even longer for premium hands.

Yes. The SB and BB add up to 1.5bb. Imagine you're playing a 3-handed game and both the blinds are sitting out. (This sometimes happens in tournaments). If you open every hand, you pick up 1.5bb per hand, so after 100 hands, you'll have 150bb more than you started with.
